Blows my ****ing wig that a bloke can get to play all three formats at international level and not know how to rotate the strike. It’s batting 101

Inglis hasn't done himself any favours in the leadup to this WC. Carey also got a 99 vs SA a few games ago and came good last WC, reckon managment will back him.
Having said this, I still would go with Inglis over Carey. Green is gonna eat up a few balls before he's set so ideally he bats as high as possible, which is 5 and I think Inglis is a better option at 6 than Carey.

Hayden put on the spot there being asked how he rates Pakistan, knowing basically his entire income stream is from Indian media. Reckon he’s sweating harder on that answer than he ever did while playing in an actual WC

Gotta say Marnus looks in imperious form here. Can see him not just in the squad but making the XI at this rate
Yeah at this point it seems sensible to slot him in at 4. We have enough all-rounders, and if he's going to score at this clip then my main objection to him goes away; we all know he can bat.

So when Head becomes available, who gets dropped?
If Marsh opening is working, he might just slot in for which ever of the middle order players is not making runs.

Maxwell burned Carey terribly there lol
this is how it'll go. It'll be like when they returned Warner to the team in the 2013 Ashes and Smith in the 2019 Ashes. It won't be a logic thing, it'll be who has made themselves dropable.

like the batting line-up should be

warner
head
smith
marnus
mmarsh (green for the first two games)
maxwell
carey/inglis

but if mmarsh makes runs opening, they won't move mmarsh any lower than 3. so marnus could be in trouble if he doesn't make runs in the game or two before head returns but green does make runs, etc etc

Marsh opening is one of our strengths

I have no faith in Head even playing until I see him on the field

If he does then use either he or Marsh to break up Smith and Marnus in the order

Starc will be a handful yet again this WC if he gets the conditions to have it hooping around early.

Fmd that leading edge flew through point just then

Pak would've been better off with a washout than going into WC with super low confidence. Realistically it's their full strength side, only one player is missing -Naseem - you can't say they rely on a 20 year old so much that an entire team falls apart.

I stopped watching for 30 mins, were the Warner/Smith overs an attempt to turn into a game and thus practice some death bowling?
