Given that, as I definitively proved, the only thing which matters in odis is WCs and in particular finals, if Kohli has a poor-moderate tourney here, there can be no way he could ever be regarded as a top shelf ODI player is there? Regardless of how many DLF Singer Cup matches he wins for India in between, he’d just be another Tendulkar wouldn’t he - produces the goods except when it matters most.

Yeah he has been pretty underwhelming, definitely wouldn't be in my starting XI, but to try and claim he isn't FC standard is ridiculous hyperbole of the worst kind. Clearly you haven't seen as much anywhere near as much recent Shield cricket as I thought you had, because there are far more anodyne looking bowlers who take bulk wickets there. My lot here at Adelaide Oval a good example of that
