I mean they had some bounce but had slowed down quite a bit, Aussie bounce is not like South African bounce, you can actually trust the bounce in the Australian wickets and a good Batsmen would be able to adjust and plunder runs regardless, I can only really see bowlers like McGrath and Steyn to be successful on those wickets, who can take the pitch out of the equation.

So..... Not totally unresponsive roads??
They were much tougher for traditional swing and pace bowlers. For example, I think if McGrath was present against India at home in 2003/4, he would have outperformed Gillespie and Lee comfortably even on flat tracks since he kept it in the corridor and had just enough bounce..

Nah

with the type of pitches Australia put out between turn of the millenium and the sandpaper gate, they should've had their test status revoked
Looks more like Australia just had bowlers who could bowl in Australian conditions and the other countries didn’t.

Average of away batsmen in Australia in that period.. 27.46 - 3rd lowest (behind SL and SA)

Average of home batsmen in Australia in that period.. 43.91 - highest

Don’t blame us for your shite bowlers.

sure sure, hide behind England being ****.
Yeah cos that wouldn’t be a 2005 excuse.

Anyway seriously on the topic of ball tampering everyone’s always done it, some people get caught and yep that’s their own fault. I’m not gonna whinge about those specific instances and be butthurt years lter and devalue those bowlers or the teams tbh. Most likely SA was tampering too and just didn’t get caught. Same with Australia in the Ashes.

Yeah I believe tampering is done when the pitch is too flat, I reckon a lot of people did in the 2000s, but some just get caught like Sandpaper or Imran doing it so brutally that he'd mutilate the ball and make it obvious imo
