Well that's it for the regular season and, with wins over vic's Orthoff & Clapo's Cavs respectively it's Blaze's Orcas & Simon's PSV who join the six who'd already qualified in the play-offs. Clutey went down by the odd point to spierz's Knights, but Simon's win meant he had to win by five more than PSV had managed anyway.

Elsewhere Team Matteh beat steds's Lyons in the all-Pom derby, Kyle's red-hot Wolves round off their storming end of season form by stunning Manjunath alternative, Norway's finest beat Craigos's Bemenata to climb above them into fifth & Blewy and myself register wins over Anthony's Eagles (who end up as spoonists) & Pinchy's, er, Pinchi'z respectively.

PSV Eindhoven 36 - Pittsworth Cavaliers The Cavs 28
Lancashire Lyons 8 - Team Matteh 13
Newcastle Knights 14 - Titanic Roar The Roar 13
Bodø/Glimt Vikings 33 - SuperInternazionale Bemenata 12
Watsons Eagles Eagles 0 - Tigers for the Title Tigers 44
Orthdox Stand-Offs Orthoff 0 - Wellington Orcas 12
Pinchinators Pinchi'z 14 - Stuntney St George Fen Dragons 37
Manjunath alternative 20 - Walthamstow Wolves 32

1. FEN DRAGONS 40 (+556)
2. ALTERNATIVE 28 (+184)
3. KNIGHTS 28 (+61)
4. TIGERS 27 (+181)
5. VIKINGS 26 (+154)
6. BEMENATA 25 (-91)
7. ORCAS 24 (+127)
8. EINDHOVEN 24 (+48)

------------------------------------
9. The Roar 22 (+35)
10. The Cavs 20 (+58)
11. Matteh 16 (+8)
12. Lyons 16 (-119)
13. Wolves 16 (-176)
14. Pinchi'z 12 (-272)
15. Orthoff 7 (-313)
16. Eagles 5 (-441)

Which means my "reward" for pissing the minor premiership by 12 (count 'em ) points is a clash with Simon's PSV, the only team to get the better of me in the regular season. Altoz faces Blaze, speirz goes up against Craigos & Blewy's Tigers have a chance to get their teeth into Sam Vimes's Vikings.

Newcastle Knights vs SuperInternazionale Bemenata
Stuntney St George Fen Dragons vs PSV Eindhoven
Tigers for the Title Tigers vs Bodø/Glimt Vikings
Manjunath alternative vs Wellington Orcas

I think I won my last 7 of 9, so would have loved to make the finals, but because I wasn't around during the end of the bidding period, meant I stated well behind the 8-ball.

Good luck to all those in the finals.

Fair effort to end up where you did with the team you started with. What was your turning point? Parker getting fit?

Yeah that was the main reason, probably been one of the best backrowers in the game the last 6 or 7 games. That and a crap load of injuries during the season which meant the 'lesser likes' got a chance. The Johns, then Mullen injury meant Walsh played for the Knights and he got a lot of playmaker tries, I also had a fairly decent forward pack and guys like Minto and Farrar from Cowboys got a lot of games and Mitch Brown from Cronulla. Also Souths doing fairly well meant a few of their guys got points for me. I was still a few mil bellow my salary cap though.

Results of the Qualifying Finals are in. We bid farewell to two of the pre-season favourites as Blaze's Orcas & Simon's PSV go down to Altoz's Manjunath alternative & my Fen Dragons respectively. Simon can consider himself a bit unfortunate as he ran up the week's equal second highest score, but my minor premiers were just too strong. Altoz & I book ourselves a week off & advance to the Preliminary Finals.

Elsewhere Craigos's SuperInternazionale Bemenata down speirz's Knights & Sam Vimes proudly flies the flag for Scandinavian Rugby league with a stunning win over Blewy's Tigers. As the best placed losers in the Qualifying Finals speirz & Blewy get a chance to put things right in this weekend's Elimination Finals.

Qualifying Finals

Newcastle Knights 16 - SuperInternazionale Bemenata 22
Stuntney St George Fen Dragons 62 - PSV Eindhoven 46
Tigers for the Title Tigers 38 - Bodø/Glimt Vikings 46
Manjunath alternative 32 - Wellington Orcas 8

Elimination Finals

1) Newcastle Knights vs Bodø/Glimt Vikings
2) Tigers for the Title Tigers vs SuperInternazionale Bemenata

Preliminary Finals

1) Stuntney St George Fen Dragons vs Winners Elimination Final 1
2) Manjunath alternative vs Winners Elimination Final 2

Ooooh. Literally couldn't have been closer. :-O

Black-armbands all round in Scandinavian league circles as Sam Vimes's Bodø/Glimt Vikings bravely hold speirz's Knights to a 24-24 draw, but sadly exit due to the latter finishing two places above them in 3rd. In the other Elimination Final Blewy's Tigers make short work of Craigos's SuperInternazionale Bemenata & look to be hitting form at exactly the right time.

Elimination Finals

Newcastle Knights 24 -
Bodø/Glimt Vikings 24
Tigers for the Title Tigers 50 - SuperInternazionale Bemenata 22

Which means this week's Preliminary Finals are as follows:

Preliminary Finals

Stuntney St George Fen Dragons vs Tigers for the Title Tigers
Manjunath alternative vs Newcastle Knights

Yep, sadly for him altoz's gloomy forecast is correct & Manjunath alternative come unstuck against speirz's Knights. Blewy's Tigers' impressive run comes to an end as my own Fen Dragons are just too strong.

Stuntney St George Fen Dragons 52 - Tigers for the Title Tigers 26
Manjunath alternative 8 - Newcastle Knights 20

Which, obviously, means the Grand Final looks like this:

Stuntney St George Fen Dragons vs Newcastle Knights

Can speirz's Knights avenge the two defeats Stuntney have already inflicted or will it be a hat-trick of wins & the ultimate glory for my minor premiers?

BoyBrumby

Englishman
Well, stick a fork in it, 'cos it's done. The minor premiers prove just too strong for speirz's Knights, so the pennant comes home to Stuntney.

Grand Final

Stuntney St George Fen Dragons 52
- Newcastle Knights 14

Thanks to all who entered, hope to see you back next year. :)
