@TheJediBrah you obviously don’t know much about Philanders selection history.

And if there isn't, he is.Big Vern ! , if there is any movement on that pitch you're in big trouble.
Genuinely very few people in Australia remember him for that at all tbh.Gillespie will always be remembered for his bowling in BG trophy 2004/05
Well no cos if there isn’t, he isn’t (even there). And if there isn't, he is.
or LilleeDaemon is right. In all seriousness Philander was an incredible bowler in certain conditions, and he played in those conditions a lot.
Comparing him to Jadeja or Axar Patel is fair
or Murali
Those conditions aren't exclusive to SA so Vern could still win matches in Australia and England.Daemon is right. In all seriousness Philander was an incredible bowler in certain conditions, and he played in those conditions a lot.

It can happen to fast bowlers, they get the yips and their rhythm just goes. Used to happen more often than it does these days.I still don't get how Dizzy just fell in a heap. Just 6 months back he's bowling some of his best stuff even out doing McGrath and then suddenly with no major injuries or surgery that I know off he turns in to a random Indian pacer from the 90's.
Yeah he went back to being a reliable performer for South Australia for a couple of years after, down on pace for sure compared to his peak, but vastly better in every way to the bowler who looked a long way off as England won the 2005 Murray Mint TrophyIt can happen to fast bowlers, they get the yips and their rhythm just goes. Used to happen more often than it does these days.
Dizzy was back to bowling ok around 2006, but never back to his best
If Gillespie had a 4 year career, yea it would beGillespie vs Philander is a bit like Swann vs Jadeja
Yes I know the feeling - right @cnerd123?It can happen to fast bowlers, they get the yips and their rhythm just goes.
