Trade Press Releases

This is just a place for us all to let off a bit've emotional energy as managers of our sides when we secure a trade etc...

So i'll start it off

Province War Horse leaves as spritely batsman arrives

Bishop Matthie, after averaging 16 in his last two years of first class cricket is packing his bags to leave for the sub continent. Karachi expressed interest in obtaining the services of a top quality paceman, and Province were more than happy to talk.

"I think it was really a gain for both sides, it was hard to say goodbye to Matthie, but he's been a good cricketer for years now and I expect him to continue in that vein and help Karachi's 4 day cause... To gain Gambhir is a big plus however, as i believe in order to improve we needed stronger batting and now our line up looks better as their are 4 good batsman".

The deal also involved the loss of O Wessels for Province, one of the bright young stars of the game.. "Oliver is the type of guy that wanted to go to a club to really establish himself as a player... Karachi is the side for this as he will undoubtedly be one of their best batsman"

Rumours Circle about Future of Stars

Just moments after the media got advised that Province had gained G Ghambir rumours began to grow louder that they were on the verge of signing talented Colts player M Beasley.

Harold Di Villiers of the Province star believes that the loss of Beasley leaves a gaping whole in the Province attack, however now with the batting so strong, a star may well depart to make way for Beasley. Experts believe that Darden may soon be packing his bags for Sri Lanka but no official announcement has been made from either club, with the only word coming from Colts that "WCC's biggest trade in history could be about to occur".

Another question remains is will more than one face be involved in the trade. With Darden leaving Slats will definately be out to try to somehow cover the loss sustained, and Age craves the OD batting stars which Slats may be able to provide.

If the deal goes through it will cause a pain in the heart of other managers as Beasley was one of the most sort after players this trading period. Tamil Nadu manager Cloete will undoubtedly be the msot upset.

Well... I have offered a better OD batsman than Darden and one of the best OD bowlers going around :)

I'm quietly confident. The important thing though, is TN doesn't need this trade. With many critics, including a certain Division four manager, touting TN as teh emerging team and possibly the best team in WCC after a strong trading season. As a certain Anil Tendulkar reported. The full Tendulkar article may be reprinted at a later date.

South Australian Manager describes Western Province as a Laughing Stock

South Australian boss Simon Fitzsimmons has today called WP manager Ian Markus as the biggest joke in WCC. "Hes behind ND in division 5 and he thinks he has power in this game, hes nothing!"
Fitzsimmons went on to laugh off the possible trade of Darden from the club, saying, if Darden departs, the four day side will join the one day team in division 5 before too long.

Slats Remains Quiet as words Fly

In a spate of attacks from rival managers Western Province manager Slats4ever has remained cautious not to respond to any of the criticism sent his way saying that "the side has a plan implemented for both OD and 4 day cricket, what that plan is is Province's business, nobody elses".

In response to Cloete's remarks about the strength of his offer Slats just said that it was "sour grapes" that Tamil Nadu knew that they were facing a losing battle for Beasley's signing.

The mood remains tense around Western Province doors as they finally moved into the trading market, after days of holding back on any major moves.

Recent reports also show that offers from Somerset are also being heavily considered along with those of Colts.

Province Gain Star but Lose Friend

In a long and tense few days Province has finally landed the star they've wanted for a long time. In a board room battle which has seen sweaty brows, and angry exchanges for months now Province has finally got M Beasley, one of WCC's prestige all rounders.

The cost however has been massive. Not only has Darden moved off to Colts, along with Rickman and Rayadu, Province has definately made an enemy in Somerset... In a battle which looks like continuing for a long time now Slats4ever has been described as having "backstabbed" and being a "cheat" by Mr P. In response Slats has this to say "anything is possible in WCC, it's like a game of chess you have to realise that sometimes dear friends can be worst enemies, I hold no regrets and will see Mr P on the cricket field"

Cricket wise however the loss of star player Darden was made less by the arrival of WCC's most prolific run scorer W Anderson. A player who has struggled this season, has been given a new lease on life by Province, as he'll come to join a talented line up.

I've decided to take a strong stance against Mr P and walk my dog in public by myself. I have nothing to fear from this guy... My trading tactics were perfectly legit and if he has a problem.... he should get over it and learn

Chittagong Cougars revealed their new signing today in Scott Styris, with reserve wicketkeeper M Siddique the player departing. While neither of the players can be considered top drawer, Styris is a player who has been considered as someone who can 'do a job' throughout his career.

The fans will not be rushing to the shop to buy Styris signed photos but the compact all rounder will let his cricket do the talking. He will have to be working hard in preseason training though, because the competition to be named in Chittagong's squad for their innaugral season is fierce and Styris is in no way guaranteed a spot.

The Cougars Coach, Dave Richards, said that Styris was an interesting signing, as he could not say he like the player as a person, but would hope they could overcome this and Styris could contribute to the side.

For the departing Siddique however, the future remains unclear. A serial underperformer, the wicket keeper, unfortunately nicknamed 'The Vet' due to his tendancy to put chances down, will struggle to stay at his new club any longer than to collect his P45 and it is unlikely that anyone else will take him.

With number one keeper Ahmed somewhat suspect in OD cricket, Richards may well be on the lookout for another option behind the stumps, with medium pacers Alamgir and Jacobs possible departures, along with middle order batsman Hossain and fast bowlers Barua and Mubalik

Speculation still surrounds serial run getter Abedin, with several clubs sniffing round with offers of a lucrative one year contract in what is likely to be the veteran's final year.
