I really don't think either Z Khan or I Pathan would be there.

My top 5 (no particular order)

Mcgrath
Pollock
Harmison
Akhtar
Gillespie

Gillespie and McGrath top 2 by far. pollock is past his best by a long way. Pathan and Khan haven't been bowling that well for any sustained period of time.

Pathan rules!! ever since he had started his career, Pathan has been doing extremely well. PPl try to underestimate him probably coz he's an Indian and there is a general impression that India doesn't produce good fast bowler, but i think this guy will be the number one bowler of the world in a year or two.

Not sure about the world, but in Australasia, I would go for:

Sokyola
Elsu
Smooth Satin
Mister D G
Roman Gladiator

Oh, we aren't talking harness racing....

Well he has played most of his matches against the most dominant batting lineup seen for a long time. Once he rolls over some of the lesser lights he'll get it down to what it should be.

Someone did a pretty good analysis of Pathan's performance todate in the Akram/Pathan thread which quite clearly showed that touting Pathan among the top five is a misnomer at best.

Absolutely, although he has a lot of talent and should get there if he puts his mind to it and works hard.

I dont think even Sourav Ganguly would rate Zaheer Khan as one of the best bowlers in the world.

Zaheer Khan in not even close to bieng among the best pacers in the world, But pathan could be, as mentioned above.

McGrath, Gillespie and Kasprowicz from Australia, Shoaib from Pakistan, Harmison and Flintoff from England, Irfan from India. Pollock from South Africa. That makes eight..

McGrath, Gillespie and Harmison are clearly the top three. Next two are tighter. I would go for Shoaib and Flintoff.

I am really really intrested in seeing this dude Harmisson ball. Though I don't think I'll get the chance to do that till summer next year. :(
