State Captain
Completely forgot about him, he definitely makes the top 50, although a bit on the lower endGood list, but Mark Richardson was better than at least 20 of them.

He is also ahead of McCullum as is Ryder.Richardson is ahead of Latham and Conway, so will make the cut.
If Root has 5 more left he’s breaking Sachin’s runs recordThink Williamson and Root have at least 5 years left. The future is still unwritten

Yeah both from a statistical and technical pov, I find Root to be a complete batsman, with the only hole in his resume being the AUS one. But imo we need to put a lot more respect on his peak in the pace playing pandemic post COVID where not many others have been making runs, which is what seperates him from the likes of Kohli, Abd etc.@Thala_0710 there is some serious Root cope on page 1 and 2, you a real one for standing on buisness about his rating.

He is arguable with the likes of Dravid, Sanga, Punter etc depending on personal preference for now. But if he has a good series in Aus and 1-2 more quality years, I'll put him ahead of those guys.
@Johan in my defense, it was the popular take back then and his India tour didn't helped muchI really can't think of any reason to put Root in a separate tier to ABD, Younis, Williamson and especially Kohli.
Didn't check of late but I'm sure Clarke averages over 40 in most countries which is normally the pass mark but all just over 40. From memory, the only non minnow countries that he averages less than 40 is WI and England (where he averages very close to 40) and we know he can score runs in England. His last series there with a severely bad back ****ed his average tonyIt's sometimes hard to remember how htb like Clarke's record was because he played some outrageously good knocks away from home in tough conditions. Had some very lean stretches that bring the numbers down though.
Forgot about Pietersen, will take him over Cook too.You just swapped Younis and Kane and Cook and graeme
Clarke was close for me, would have him at no 12 (no 11 being Cook). He has an argument with Amla, Smith, Pietersen and Cook imo, similar tier of batsman as them.Didn't check of late but I'm sure Clarke averages over 40 in most countries which is normally the pass mark but all just over 40. if you remove minnows they average 51-53 and Root actually has more runs, from there I guess I'd take Root because tougher era and weaker batting as a whole until very recently. How is r00t better than Sanga?
