A few thoughts:
a) The forums have remained pretty much the same since 2001 and obviously times have changed, but people are failing to offer valid suggestions/solutions. It's **mostly** childish rubbish we seem to be getting rather than a good thought out discussion on the matter. It's a shame really.
b) Some other forums drive me crazy because they create a forum for almost every discussion topic the admins can think of, making it less of a community feel. This is a route I don't want to go down.
c) Why the Ashes, World Cup, Champions Trophy forums? We've always done them for the big tournaments, mainly because it allows regular cricket discussion to not fall away completely when a big tournament is on. If you don't like it, explain why.
The last Ashes we kept it in Cricket Chat and had one Ashes thread for the entire series which got completely out of control. By having a separate forum for this, it allows much more discussion to take place.
d) As personal opinion I don't have a problem with the soccer threads, but I'm always open to suggestions and to what visitors think would work better for the long term future of the site.
