Just lay off each other Voltman & Pasag, it doesn't reflect well on either of you, and as the forum rules say:

Just keep in mind that you are arguing via text on a public message board... Is there really a clean cut winner?

You're the most perplexing poster. One second you are throwing around the naughty smiley, creating stupid innuendo and acting like a 5 year old who just heard his first "thats what she said" joke and then the next minute you are all serious, invoking the forum rules, acting like a mod with a pole up his *** and a carrying on with a general holier than though attitude. Strangest case of split personalities, though tbh I don't like either of them.

And as far as I can see the only one that will be cleaning up supermarket aisles will be you. I am half way through a double degree and have many options waiting at the end of it. You on the other hand are a general faliure in life.

I'll let you have the last word on this one, these little games don't interest me.

Excellent, the coterie is after me now[/Sanz]

pasag,

How am I a general failure in life? Aside from my tertiary study, I've had three jobs in the media industry, and haven't had to apply for any of them - that suggests I can do the job and do it very well - as would the five pay rises I've had across those three years.

And, surprisingly, I'm not going to lose a ******** of sleep over the fact you don't like either of my "personalities".

Where exactly was I "invoking the forum rules"?

If we did close them, we'd have the Posters' Union up in arms.
No way, I'd hate for them to be closed. That should never happen. A sub forum, perhaps up the top like the Predictions leauge in CC is the way to go imo.

Nah, then OT wouldn't have enough activity. Merging would have the best of both worlds.

Doesn't that fact that a lot of activity is in these threads show that they are necessary?

Having a sports forum could also negate the need for various World Cup forums. I found it very annoying having to go to one forum for World Cup football and another forum for the rest of international football and domestic football.

No, because the same posters are posting in both the threads. If I made another 50 AFL threads, the activity would still be high, but there wouldnt be any need for them because the same posters would be posting in 50 different threads.

To be fair though, that's only for a few months every four years.

Oh so you're whinging about there being too many football threads but then saying that without football discussion OT wouldn't be active enough (perhaps because alot of people only come in for the football threads originally?). If a thread has about 20 posts or more then it's worth keeping because there's obviously some valid discussion going in, if there isn't it gets closed down. All of those threads serve different purposes and all of them have had enough posts to ensure that they're worth keeping. There are two options, create a sub forum or leave it the way it is. It's alot better to read a valid thread on a new football topic than it is to search through about 1000 pages of the English Football thread on a topic that you wish to discuss that doesn't even concern English Football.

Yeah, but why do they warrant their own forum just for a few months when there's just as much to talk about during the entire year, every year? It only makes it annoying because you have to go to different forums to talk about something very similar. If the World Cups warrant their own forum, then surely the Premiership does, too!

I go in the domestic season thread all the time, but rarely any of the others, I check the Fantasy League one from time to time, and that's it. There are probably plenty of users the same as me, and if all threads were merged, they would become a horrible mess.

Yeah I think setting up a football forum would be the best option.

That's what post titles are for. Not thread titles, post titles. A football (*sigh* I'll use it to keep the natives happy) competition thread would be fairly simple to run. Whoever is running each competition posts the most recent results, and then people comment on each one. By jiminy.

This post is worth quoting for posterity.

Especially the post title bit.

I spy a correlation with people who like football & people who don't like football with their views.

Funny that.

Bothered. :p

It was a valid point IMO. It is annoying perhaps for people who don't like 'soccer', but it isn't for people who do. Doesn't that make it a thing of taste? Thus making it difficult for James to change things about.
