man the people who first posted in this thread are probably almost dead...

but i'll stand up for golf, I've spent the last three years staying awake all night over 4 days just to watch the British open. The coverage doesn't help it but if u get into it it's a great sport to watch..
I like watching all sports except gymnastics..

come on mate.. how can AFL be boring... it's soo exciting..... i mean it just is ok/
Absolutely nothing happens, the ball bounces around everywhere, there are too many players on the field. You get a point for missing, both teams get a chance at getting the ball back if it goes out of bounds & worst of all if you drop a mark, it is still counted on some occasions. There is just no structure to the game.

Give me turtles any day of the week.

kyle, u didnt mention how u get a 3 week suspension is the umpire is too dopey to get out of your way, or the fact they cant tackle, the game isnt and never will go anywhere outside of australia, umm ill add more when i think of it...

ill admit i do watch it, but only in bed at night, i feel alseep watching the wizard cup twice on the weekend tbh....

i think your forgetting that its the most followed sport in australia, the most skillful, the quickest, the most challenging, the toughest.... AFL is what NRL tries to be.... NRL get something like 15,000 to a game if theyre lucky!

Damn straight. There is more action in the first set of 6, than an entire A.F.L game.
haha run for 5 metres, get tackled, run for 5 metres, get tackled, run for 5 metres, get tackled, run for 5 metres, get tackled, run for 5 metres, get tackled, run for 5 metres, get tackled.... turnover..... *repeat*

There is no skill in A.F.L. it is just a glorified version of 'Force 'Em Back'.

most followed.... no
most attended... yes
most skillful.... lol
most challenging.... no
toughest.... no

AFL gets good (but declining) crowd figures, simply because of melbourne. They will watch any sport u throw at them, they got 90,000 to a RL State of Origin game there in the mid ninties....

TV numbers for AFL are way behind that of the NRL and even the fox footy channel doesnt rate in the same ballpark as super 12, its just not a spectator sport. as much as i tried in the past to get into a game i just cant, theres nothing to make u feel apart of the match, which is what sport needs...
With the thread being titled "The Worst Sport to Watch" i have no choice but to say AFL, its just not exciting. 1 thing i found when watching it is theres always an ad break after a goal, this is probably when the players are showing the most emotion and would be the best way to feel part of the game celebrating your sides goal, but straight to an add everytime...

Hang on...kick the ball, watch it bounce, watch someone fumble it, watch someone pick it up, watch somebody elbow someone in the face, watch someone fall to the ground, wait 10 minutes for the umpire to get to where the action was, jump ball, finds the ground again, someone kicks, someone kicks again, handball, blah, blah, blah.

id say its a pov version of "force em back" cause in that game you have to hold onto the ball for it to be considered a mark (not just juggled three times), then you get your 5 steps...

lol need i point out the fact that NRL is only played in 2 and a half states?... afl has a much larger (and increasing!) television audience.... along with bigger crowds, even in NRL territory, so the melbourne debate is redundant.....

lets just agree to disagree, hey?

AFL does not have a larger television audience, bigger crowds, ive already given u that. Its going to be interesting in 5 or 6 years when The Perth Super 12 team is going strong and the A League is a winter sport with Perth doing well as usual, just to see how much fremantles and the west coasts crowd figures go... One of those sides will die without a doubt if the other 2 sports are succesful, not to mention the fact the NRL is going back to the west this year...
Brisbane's crowds will be down this year, its proven the brisbane people will only watch a winner and when the Lions start going downhill, the lions will be in real trouble...
the way i see it is League, Football and Union going foward and AFL going backwards in australia...

now we can agree to disagree...
