Is Covic still young, if so Guus may see him as a long term keeping option. Filan been awsome for Wigan but Guus has seemed to pick a lot the young guys over older guys that aren't certain starters. Hmm you got to wish he was our coach before Dilcula(sp?) went and played for Croatia, what a loss.Cloete said:

Max Veri did play for Australia, but he couldn't score a goal against the Pacific Island sides so he got dropped. He looked ok, but just seemed incapable of finishing anything.BoyBrumby said:

I think we done quite well considering the calibre of their attacking players made them shot quite a bit from distance and contested everything that they had in the box (apart from the goal). Our attack was a little disappointing i would like to see Guus attack with a 3-5-2 in Sydney after watching Dukes give their defence quite a few problems another strike partner could stretch them just a bit more to make room for the mids making runs into the box.burkey_1988 said:

Yawn. The Aussie team is vastly over-rated relative to where they really stand. The press complaining about the Uraguaian tactics in forcing the return leg to be played earlier, etc. smacks of a press preparing the public for the inevitable loss so, in typical Aussie tradition, we have something to blame other than the players for being nowhere near as good as they think they are. Same old story as the last two pre-World Cup campaigns.

I thought they played really well and defended brilliantly considering the quality of the Uruguary attacking options. There are not too many international sides with the 5th best striker the quality of Silva. The no doubt that the Australian media over rates the Australia team, but so does every nation teams media. Im sure the Uruguarian media expected another 3-0 win if not better, considering their side is better then 4 years ago.

its 50/50 imo, i think we showed enough to suggest we can score a goal or two, but keeping them to nil will be tougher than most people think...
Uruguay have a poor away record, so i believe we are still a real chance but the guys are gonna have to play really really well...
