Carmine vs Zingiber
at CW Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Matt Luff and Jamee Gray led the Zingiber side to a victory in the preseason tournament, sharing an incredible stand of 235 against bowlers without tooth nor claw. Sean Bennett also staked his claim to an openers' spot, making 81 before playing on to Watt, while the middle order suddenly seemed deceptively fragile - though of course the Zingibers weren't really tested.

Carmine were inserted, as the Zingiber captain sought to repeat his successful tactics from yesterday. UIt worked to an extent; although Bennett played with composed defence and forged comfortable partnerships with Sharma and Dauth. Dobson's stay was all too short, however, and Mørk and Bennett had to rebuild somewhat. When they charged out, they both dragged on Watt, leaving the veteran seamer with slightly flattering figures of two for 38.

Kennett then removed Nayak, Heal, and Gillies in a hat-trick, all caught, and rounded off with Raghav for a five-for; Dwyer remained unbeaten on 35, clamoring for promotion, while Clapham got Amir out after he had slogged his way to six.

The chase was a good display of skill from Matt Luff and Jamee Gray, though it started with Amir handing away five wides before even bowling a legal delivery. Dobson, who had been handed the gloves at Zingiber for a spell, was unable to take one flying down the leg side. The opening bowlers smartened up as far as length was concerned, but were unable to provide regular threat, and for the remainder of the innings the pair kept an eye on the run rate. Extras flowed, and even a delayed powerplay wasn't able to provide the long sought-after wicket; Luff brought up his hundred off a hundred and six balls, registering a 15-dB applause from the man and his dog, before finally dragging Amir on at 117. Kearsley stepped in for a couple glorious cover drives, while Gray earned a deserved century with a flick to mid on - off 152 deliveries.

Carmine 246 all out (48.3)
SA Bennett 81, CR Dwyer 35*, H Mørk 33; DM Kennett 5/45, DJ Watt 2/38, KR Clapham 2/59

Solid win for Zingiber there. Good effort from Bennett with both bat & ball, and nicely done by Kennett, Luff and Gray.

Think it's just supposed to be It, the U is a typo. Great win though, fantastic opening stand by Luff & Gray (y). Kennett had a ripper spell with the ball, as did Watt, although it seems I can't really say the same for myself...

Another superb OD knock from Luff. Disappointed I wasn't involved, but good to see a few key guys doing well.

Carmine vs Western Australia
at CW Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

A spin-heavy side were brutally slaughtered after their captain failed at the Oval. Dobson and Sharma put on 115 for the second wicket after Mørk chose to bat, but Inness and Dorey took the visitors back in the match, and Carmine lost eight wickets for 115 runs. What followed was a disastrous piece of bowling. Neither Raghav, Amir, Nayak, nor Bennett had any chance of threatening the tourists, with Langer and Davis adding 278 for the first wicket. Voges, Ronchi and Hogg all chipped in respectably, and Western Australia totalled a massive 665, with loan-in Shawn Gillies taking three top-order wickets. Between them, the four Carmine bowlers managed five wickets from over 100 overs, with one of them being Inness for 9.

Carmine slipped to 107 for six before Western Australia gave up; Heal smacked a round hundred, while Amir's unbeaten 26 was more impressive than scores from most specialist batsmen. Yet, the hosts lost by an innings.

Carmine 268 all out (67.4)
GKK Dobson 90, A Sharma 68; MWH Inness 4/36, BR Dorey 4/63

Western Australia 665 all out (168.4)
LM Davis 147, JL Langer 136, GB Hogg 102, AC Voges 72, L Ronchi 59; WS Gillies 4/76

Carmine 332 all out (79)
AK Heal 100; MWH Inness 3/57, BR Dorey 3/64, DC Bandy 3/70

Western Australia won by an innings and 65 runs
Man of the Match: M. W. H. Inness (Western Australia)

Finally, thank God, made some runs.

Yeah am an opener by trade, but it seems, have consistently done better at number 3.

Ahh... pretty terrible performance from everyone there. Kenny is a gun, though, and it's good to see Sharma making some runs.
