If you'd really like to imagine a majority opinion and then complain about it without explaining yourself here are half a dozen existing threads

I will start with:

Most underrated batsman in CW: Charlie MaCartney

Most overrated batsman in CW: Graeme Smith
I realized I myself underrated Charlie Macartney. He was one of the best batsman if his time, played in some of the low scoring tests. Also had a much better last 5 year stretch compared to fairly poor starting 4 years.

Only two of them are about underrated or overrated players in CricketWeb, one of them being 8 years ago.

Also of note, MaCartney begun his career as a lower order bowling all-rounder like Smith and Jayasuriya. When his batting really started to improve and he began to bat at top of the order, WWI rolled out. And to top it off, he had PTSD post War.

Don't know enough about cricketweb, so just done my own general list.

Most underrated batsman: Mushfiqur Rahim. He never gets any kind of mention on a global stage and even when talking about Bangladeshi players he is behind Shakib and Tamim.

As a keeper with 50+ Tests he averages 37 which is very respectable. As a specialist batsman he averages 43. If you factor in how young he debuted and only look at his batting since his mid 20s (last 12 years) he's been averaging mid 40s

Most underrated bowler: Morne Morkel.
Has an incredible peer review. Nearly always in the top 2 or 3 when batsmen from his era are asked who was the most difficult bowler to face. He's a huge reason why Steyn did so well.

Most overrated batsman: Mahela Jayawardene. He might not be as overrated now, but for most of his and Sangas career he was talked up way way more. Still an awesome player, but didn't deserve to get the plaudits he did back in the day over Sanga.

Most overrated bowler: Alzarri Joseph. Just look at his stats. No idea why he still gets picked and is even somewhat considered the spearhead now.

Jayawardena isn't overrated at all on CW. He gets clubbed with Hussey and Yousuf usually and occasionally you get disrespectful comparisons to guys like M Waugh. Morkel was gun but there's really so much to write about a third seamer who mostly did the enforcer role. Can't expect people to be sucking off every good player ever all the time. And people only ever talk about Joseph to bring up his terrible stats and how wayward he is.

Is it even possible to overrate Don though?? Actually, now thinking about it, some people saying he is worth 3 ATVGs probably does so.

Also interested when was the last time Bert Sutcliffe was even discussed here?? Problem while discussing ATG NZ team.....

Williamson ranked ahead of Kohli and Root in the best Test batsman poll. Certainly isn't underrated in CW.
On Rahane, he was too inconsistent.
