The Most Entertaining Pace Bowler to Watch

Pup Clarke

Cricketer Of The Year
Prime Shoaib was pretty mad to watch. That enormous run up and the absolute ****sure swagger that he had.
The repetiore of tricks he had at his disposal was mesmerizing. Also, the sheer unpredictability of what he would bowl made for some absorbing contests against the likes of Sachin, Lara, Ponting and Kallis.

Jeff Thompson must have been quite something in his pomp.

The only time I've ever seen a pace bowler have everyone in a packed crown think "****ing hell" was Mark Wood at, I think, the 2016 Blast finals day. Just electric.

Whatever it takes!!!
The best to watch would be Wasim obviously when he is really up for it. But in the late 90s and early 00s especially, there was a lot of time when it felt like he was just phoning it in.

There is a significant drop in consistency and his stats suffer from 98-2003 this was the point he got diagnosed with diabetes.

Also he admitted Justice Quayyum commission took a toll on his mental health as being called in court every other week was really stressful for him and the constant stress may have triggered his diabetes earlier than you expect for an elite sportsman.

Wasim admitted once that on flat wickets sometimes he would go through the motions and just bowl outside off. He very much was a mood bowler, just that his base performance was usually pretty decent. One reason I rate Imran better than him.

Yes but Wasim 88-97 would do a job in any condition and day to day to basis.

I remember chatting to him on a private dinner few years back and he said it took him good 10 years to figure out the right training and diet for his diabetes and by then he was already past retirement.

Shoiab during my time. Just a force of nature. There are pace bowlers, and then there are guys who transcend the laws of physics. Shoiab was that guy.

Of the current lot, I'd say Bumrah and Starc when they're on song are top watching because you basically can't do anything about them but my personal favourite is obviously Wagner.

Every Wagner delivery is an event. He's fitter than you, he's smarter than you, he's psychosis made flesh and his celebrations of screaming, crying and occasional mocking roars at the batsman are like Rome sacking Carthage all over again. You can keep your cute little swing bowlers and your delicate glassware quicks, Wagner is the cave man returned to life. He's literally a persistence hunter. He'd run down so many mammoths.

I love him but you probably can't tell.

He's so much fun and entertainment. You'd have to even consider chucking him in as your avatar.

Wasim Akram for sure. Shoaib was a lot of fire and fury, but when Wasim was in the mood he could toy around with batsmen. Bowl so many different deliveries, move the ball in the air and off the pitch in both directions..it was incredible to watch.

Pre-injury Waqar was a sight to behold too. Usain Bolt was a huge Waqar fan it seems
