Finally there it is - the admission HB wants a rule where a bowler can balk a batsman out by pretending to bowl. Only taken nearly a week and half a dozen unanswered questions as to whether it’s the case, but we finally have a breakthrough.

Now we can start the ridicule therapy to hopefully remedy this utterly stupid idea. The doctors aren’t hopeful of a recovery for him, but there’s an obligation to try.

It does not seem to work on you, coz your idiotic diatribe of posts in this thread have kept coming inspite of the obvious ridicule it deservedly attracts. Why do you think it will work on anyone, least of all someone who unlike you, has an actual point? :p

And FWIW, what is utterly stupid is to not want clarity on a law and just leave it up for interpretation. But hey, you are a lawyer, you can't make a living if things are set in black-and-white, can you?

@*****: I agree about the fake out thing but there are other ways you can deal with that, including run penalties when bowlers fake bowling looking for a Mankad. Still feel moving the run out at nonstriker's law to more black and white can only be beneficial to the game.

you shouldn't get a run penalty for a failed mankad. What about for a failed run-out attempt from the outfield then, or a failed LBW/caught behind appeal? It's not consistent.

Excessive Mankading has literally never been an issue in professional outdoor cricket, and I imagine that if it does it will be dealt with via laws 41 and 42.

All I've learnt from this thread is that cricket fans are a very special breed......very special.

Is one of those about delaying the over rate ? If yes, then I think that can then be dealt with that way even if we change the run out law to ensure the non-striker has to wait till the ball is actually delivered before leaving his crease.

Agree with this with the law as it currently stands. As you have noted in your previous post, however, were HB’s idea brought in, there’d be an epidemic of it.

I’m beginning to move towards a zero tolerance approach with cricket laws now, just as I have developed zero tolerance of idiotic posters on this website (they know how they are). So, for example, fine not to warn a batsman if you want to run them out.

But also move to a rule where if you try it and fail, you’re banned from bowling for the rest of the innings. Same if you run on the pitch. None of this warning **** - you’re gone. How good would it be? That’s test these so called master tactians of the game. Try bowling a side out using your opening batsmen bowling off one step.

Agreed, would like to ban all cheaters within the last 3 years permanently as well

kind of figured you'd understand eventually if I simplified it sufficiently though
I genuinely hope this is just part of your online schtick/persona, cos it's a pretty unlikeable way to speak to people.

Even if it is part of his schtick it still comes across as obnoxious and a **** way to debate.

Unfortunately, when you’re part of a diverse online community you have to deal and interact with all kinds of people, some of whom are blinkered, arrogant and all too often just not that bright, frankly.

I know it can be difficult to maintain your cool when dealing with people like that and I can certainly sympathise given with what’s been said, but I genuinely believe TJB is very patient given the brain dead contributions of so many people here. It’s hardly his fault if the ignorant and unintelligent don’t want to be set straight, is it?

Very few of us have the perseverance to carry on and maintain our cool while dealing with these imbeciles, and if I’ve set an example for TJB and others with how I’ve gone about my interactions with the catatonic proles who regularly infest this forum, then that’s all right be me; I feel I’ve made a contribution.

Just becuse they’ve shown their stupidity and ignorance over several years doesn’t mean they are incapable of improvement - only yesterday ***** made his first decent post when he rightly called out HB’s idiocy on the faking out of batsmen issue. Let’s be honest, if there’s hope even for him then it truly springs eternal.

Let me finish with this thought - if you aren’t prepared to take the time to guide the ignorant into the light, help the mentally disadvantaged understand basic concepts and to lift the blinkers from the eyes of the chronically partisan, then what are you as a human being?

Peace out.

We can't all have your composure and patience. Ftr I think I've been more than respectful to the more cognitively challenged of posters on here, it's not like I'm running around calling them idiots or posting laughing emojis at every dumb thing they say. If some of them still get offended by the way I "speak to people", that's on them. If they really don't like it, stop saying stupid ****.

I like TJB. He gives it out as much as he receives it (maybe a slight bit more). But it's hard to picture him being any different IRL. I could imagine him at cricket training quipping things like "Terminus post quem!" & "I know Latin!" whilst standing around in a semi-circle with the other lads practising slips catching. Eventually the bloke hitting the balls would have a gutful & probably unleash a full force cut shot aimed directly at his kneecap. Only problem is Jedi would probably somehow inexplicably catch the ball. After a long pause, one of the blokes would probably say in a disappointed-sounding voice... "Nice catch, Jedi."

I'll just say the baseball comparisons are really dumb as the value of a run in baseball is infinitely more than in cricket

Also, I've played cricket since I was 5 and I've never even been bothered to back up properly or regularly. That's reality

Same set of circumstances apply though, regardless of the scoring system.
I just feel the length of a cricket game would be extended to a ridiculous amount if we allowed for similar rules as a baseball game. One has on average what, 100 pitches thrown in it? As opposed to 600 balls bowled in an ODI

If faking ever became a problem in cricket then I suppose you could limit mankad attempts just like they limit bumpers. Say one an over. Boy that would put an onus on a bowler to use it wisely.
Can't see how that could possibly work. If the bowler used his mankad attempts up in the over then the batsman has a free pass to cheat as much as he wants for the rest of the over.
yeah, it goes too far the other way, as well meaning as the idea may be.
Fair enough then how about a run penalty for a failed mankad? I mean it'd be punishing (unsuccessful) genuine attempts - which isn't ideal, but puts a price on the bowler's decision.

The most amazing thing in the world today is how the people who post idiotic crap (like these two in this thread) think they are doing the world a service. I mean, it would be actually be a service if we are spared of such stupid and foolish posts but hey, gotta keep them coming coz otherwise the forum would be the better for it.

EDIT: And since its these two, and :p and 8-)
