Is anyone actually that fussed about this yet? Sure I think once we get closer to the end of the league part I think people will care but at present I am not going to worry about where England are and what they might have to do to qualify for the final. I doubt we will make it anyway as we play more games so have more chance to drop points than most other sides plus we have a shocking batting line up as well.

First innings lead is a bit of a crap tie-breaker. What's to stop teams batting on and on in the second innings of the match if they've crossed the side batting first, with no intention of going for the result at all? In fact, we'd even see teams reluctant to declare at 600/4 batting first, they'd go on to try and get 850.

They probably deserve to win the game if the other side is that incapable of getting them out tbh.

Why does a team who made 850 all out deserve to win against the one who made 750/6 and ran out of time?

The bit about knowing what teams have to do could backfire on everyone. As there's nothing for series result a team could potentially go into the last match of series needing to win to square the series but only a draw to make the Final. It's difficult to play for a draw from the start, but it could happen as the match unfolds that they won't risk losing in an attempt to win. Or something like that...………………..

Yeah its not perfect I guess but apart from a replay it's the best that can be done.

Apart from counting boundaries of course. That'd be flawless.

I largely agree which is why I prefer an 'after the fact' tiebreaker for Test Cricket, though aside from my replay suggestion - which is obviously not feasible in practice - I am not really sure what you could do.

Replaying a 5-day game will be tough for spectators, players and everyone involved. Plus there's a decent chance it could be drawn again (and again). An ODI is probably the only workable solution.

I would not mind...

Timeless tests are a much simpler answer. Since no game is likely to go past Day 6 anyway.

There's lots of reasons it isn't workable, but surely a replay is no different from a second Test in a series?

Not sure why it would be tough for spectators?

In a knockout-style tournament which is supposed to finish over the course of let's say, a couple of months, it would be tough. For the final alone, you could replay the Test I guess.

Super over as a draw breaker.
I think Super wicket is a good idea. Both the teams should insert the 2 batsmen with best defensive technique and the bowlers should try to get them out no matter what the time taken for it. If this pair scores 100 runs, the opposition should try to score 101 to win the match. 99 or less and they lose the match. 100 will be a tie. It will make for compelling viewing.

Unscheduled tests are different though. Screws up travel/accomodation for traveling fans.

As an alternative, super wicket but you have to bat your numbers 1 and 11.
Now these are some interesting suggestions. First innings lead is the least imaginative idea that anyone could have possibly come up with, I'm surprised it's lasted this long in FC cricket when you think about it...

Love this idea, could even change it to just balls faced instead of runs scored.
