Wickets have been pretty favourable, at least from what I've seen?

Surprised-one mentioned the ball Parkinson bowled to Cooke a few matches ago. That sure had some spin on it.

I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but this tournament (apart from one or two games) hasn't been as fun as I anticipated. I keep falling asleep watching the games, they're dull.

Regardless of whether you like it or hate it, both the quality and entertainment (general entertainment, not personal feelings towards T20/the product) is there in the IPL.

This seems to be missing...'something'.

Ha, that too. And yes IPL I do expect to be better quality (which it is) - but this seems to be lacking something else - some X factor or whatever you wish to call it.

Also, the camera work has been very shoddy - anyone else? It's like the cameraman never has any idea where the ball is when it's launched for a six. It's very annoying.

The rules etc are a bit weird too.

On a positive note the helmet cam is cool - they need to bring this into IPL too.

Having remarked on how trifling the changes are, however, I find myself mildly irked by the fact that Cricinfo (so presumably it's official) appears to be including this in T20 stats. I shouldn't really care, but the pedant in me (well, it's most of me, really) keeps saying that THEY'RE NOT THE SAME FORMAT

3 day First Class matches and 5 day Tests both count towards the same set of career First Clase stats, as do 40 over domestic one dayers and 50 over ODIs when it comes to List A stats.

I've caught a couple of games the last couple of nights and they've been fun, definitely helps that both went down to the wire.

The weather hasn't helped. Today's fixture list suggests that The Oval Invincibles are playing the Northern Superchargers at 6.00pm today, which should have made an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the weather forecast shows rain hitting Leeds between 6.00pm and 8.00pm after a generally sunny day.

Someone explain to me why they have double headers for the hundred.
I thought the reason for making this competition ( other than a money making exercise for the ECB) was that a T20 game took to long for the poor souls who had no attention span.
Yet, those who show up for the first game will be there for around 5-6 hours including the break between matches.
Have both competitions as stand alone matches, NO DOUBLE HEADERS.

One always felt that naming the side 'Invincibles' was asking for trouble. They're looking pretty vincible tonight at 60 for 6.

As others have said it's too similar to T20 really. It looks like a cynical marketing exercise rather than a genuine attempt to freshen up the game and create a meaningful new format.

If the ECB really want to simplify the rules and make it accessible to audiences who know nothing about cricket, they could have gone further. For instance, non-cricketers never really understand the no-ball rules. Why not just abolish wides and no-balls and have a single category of 'foul' balls like they do in baseball?

Still not sold on the pac man style graphics but I like the runs and balls remaining columns slowly dropping as they come down

I am not sold on the graphics and the stylings but the game itself could grow and surprise, I guess, like T20s did. But a game shorter than T20 could still spell the end of ODIs. Not much will happen for 4-5 years and this could well be like the old Sunday League that England had. But there is some promise in the concept if they can tone down on some of the "in your face" stuff. T20s. when they were invented, essentially simplifed the game to the greatest possible extent. The Hundred seems more like ODIs than T20s in terms of the rules at this point.

I find the cricket watchable enough, especially when there's a meaningful contest between bat and ball, and the graphics aren't without merit. But I can't watch the interviews where spectators are contractually obliged to say how the great the format is. Just once, it would be nice to see some smart-arse point out that he/she misses the ebb & flow and subtlety of the T20 version.

I've spent much of this afternoon watching the Royal London games on youtube; first Alastair Cook in pipe and slippers mode, strolling down a small total against Kent, and then Yorkshire's latest wunderkid William Luxton impressing against Somerset.
