The stats for FC have been updated to our last game of the year now and i thought i would tell you all what my thoughts on our FC season were.
For me it was a season where we didn't really have any stand out perfromers consistently dominate attacks, like in previous years where Hoy and Timewell took over 200 wickets between them. This season we didn't have any bowlers average under 20 or batsmen average over 35.
I think generally through the season the batting was the weakpoint, far less consistent then the bowling. The batsmen only mading 7 hundreds between them highlighted that for me.
In terms of individuals:
M Gaukroger – Had a very solid season with the bat, she was probably the most consistent averaging over 30 with only 1 hundred and 2 fifties. Didn’t keep at all in FC this season I don’t think due to the high number of keepers in the squad. Will certainly be looking for a few more 50’s and 100’s from her next season as her batting continues to improve.
N Dravid – Had a good rookie season averaging 31 and making just under 500 runs in 8 games. The only down side was that he didn’t manage to make his maiden hundred. Will be looking for him to consolidate abit next year and continue putting consistent runs on the board, that first hundred shouldn’t be too far away either.
A Lezama – A slightly disappointing year from the llama, made more 50’s then anyone else in the side but only managed 1 hundred. He was often called to hold the batting together due to the batsmen around him failing and saved us from embarrassment a number of times. Im sure he will want to convert a few more of those sorts of innings to big hundreds next season.
N Scott – After a huge debut season he had a slightly disappointing year, hopefully he will be back at his best next season.
J Rodgie – Played some good innings and showed a lot of potential, will be looking for him to occupy the crease a lot more next year. Only took 3 catches in 11 games too, will have to work on his fielding for next season.
R Malone – Very disappointing FC season from the big fella, that said his standards are set pretty high. Opened the innings for the vast majority of the year which is probably not his best position with the bat, may look to bat him back down at number 4 next season. Certainly a key player and we need him in from next year if we are going the challenge for the trophies.
D Dubb-Lynch – had some solid performances in his first year at Green. Showed a lot of potential. Scores his runs at a good strike rate which is always impressive.
E Volavola – Played 1 game and scored 1 run. Too early to say too much. If he sticks around through the off season I’m sure he will get more gametime next year and the chance to show us what he’s got
R Hing – only played the 1 FC game, needs to work on his wicket taking ability in order to demand a place as an all rounder in FC cricket.
B Cunningham – Both his batting and bowling averages came out at 20. Was very impressive with the ball topping the bowling averages and taking the 2nd most wickets. Batting was good at times and poor at times, scores at a good rate. I would like to see him boost that batting average up towards 30 as I think he’s got a lot to contribute with the bat. Also topped the non WK catches with 16.
K Goughy – Only played the 4 FC matches, didn’t make enough of an impact with the ball, his OD returns show he is a quality player, looking for big things from him next season.
X Rose – Topped the wickets and took 3 5wi. The only Green player to bowl more then 500 overs. Consistently took wickets through the season, at a very good average like Cunningham, but only really got on top of a batting side and ripped through it a couple of times, I want him to keep firing and lower that strike rate even more next season. Played a few key innings with the bat too – scored quickly with a SR of 84, always a dangerous batsman down the order.
P Gundry –Happy with how he stepped up after Weber’s departure. His bowling average didn’t come through the season so well at 36 but he showed signs of becoming a good bowler. Needs to work on his SR and taking more wickets to become a real threat.
M Mitchell – A much improved year, ended up averaging a touch over 30 but really fired towards the end of the year – that spell of 7/49 really showed what he has the ability to do, will certainly be looking for more of that sort of stuff next year as he continues to improve.
A Cameron – Continued to bowl well after coming across to Green last season. 52 wickets at 26 is very solid. Definitely has the ability to be more then solid though.
A Garven – Pretty poor season with the bad. My average was boosted massively by 2 games. Was about to drop myself before I hit that double hundred. Want to make runs more consistently to take the pressure off the rest of the team.
