Right then fellas, the main event is nearly with us. Tomorrow I'll post up a preview with teams for the first Test.
Two points:
1. From now on I'll be using interest as first criterion for selection so if you think you're not playing enough, asking will probably be enough to get you into the side.
2. I'll be in Exeter most of this week and can't seem to post images properly off my phone. So either you'll go without the scorecards or someone can volunteer to put up the results of each day and keep schtum in between.

Get the beers in, set the sky box to record and put that trumpet away, the Ashes are nearly upon us.
England go into the match with some batting concerns, with no centurions among the top six. Wood's 90 has been the only one to come close, and as one of only two specialist batsme in the side, more will be expected from KP Moody than his current summer of 73 runs from 4 innings. They will, however, take heart in the performance of their opening bowlers Myheart and Force, and the pace attack will have some reassuring depth with Deen performing ably as backup. The allrounder has also produced their only century so far.
Australia will no doubt enjoy the batting advantage, though it has come from unexpected sources. Their middle order hasn't quite fired, with Monk and Spark only managing a high score of 49 between them, but instead keeper-batsman Haddin has been dominant with two big tons, and has had fine support from Bobby Loblaw and Dan Wayne to form a potent lower order. While Australia's seamers have been inconsistent, their spinners Lewis and Stephen produced two of the finest hauls of the summer at Taunton.
Expected teams:
England: Fertang, Pickup, Moody, Robertson, Wood, Ardley, Deen, Tesnan, Myheart, Furball, Force

England won the toss and elected to bat first on a surprisingly batting friendly wicket. The visitors had a poor start in the field, the opening bowlers being seen off before Fertang was put down by Player off Burridge's bowling after an hour. The England openers progressed steadily through much of the session, until Fertang fell for 37 against Wayne in the final over before lunch.
From 83/1 the spinners began to trouble England in the afternoon. Lewis bowled pickup for 37, before Moody lost his off stump to Stephen half an hour later. Wood's 33 from 41 provided some aggression, but not the lengthy stay that was called for, and when he lost his wicket to Burridge England had stumbled to 170/4. Robertson remained, raising his side's 200 along with his own unbeaten fifty shortly before the tea break.
Robertson and Ardley's partnership carried on well into the evening. The second new ball came and went for the visitors without success, and Ardley's fifty (from 83 balls) was brought up along with the hundred stand. As the score passed 300, Robertson's hundred became the defining innings of the day, and he returned to the pavilion on 117*. A dominant session for England saw them finish the day on 333/4.
