Loblaw's innings was not to continue on the fourth morning as Myheart picked up his third, the centurion nicking behind for 107. Suifdadny fell soon after off the bowling of Deen, but Player and Stephen frustrated England just enough to nudge the score past 600. Australia claimed a lead of 149.
Given that England were now looking to save the game, Pickup's approach to the new innings of blasting Suifdadny for six was questionable, even more so when the keeper-batsman was dismissed for a run-a-ball 17. Fertang and Moody remained patient, seeing off the remainder of the session, but the other opener fell for just 18 when Suifdadny got him, both players having been caught by Haddin.
Haddin's performance continued to shine when his sharp stumping did for Moody, reducing England to 59/3, still 90 runs in arrears. From there Oscar Wood lent some stability, but he lost partner Robertson for just 25 as Player picked up his second, ensuring England would be four down by tea. That became five down soon after the 50 stand came up, with Lewis this time striking to remove Wood with the home side still 2 runs from a lead.
Ardley and Deen's partnership restored some hope for the England fans, but Deen fell to Burridge for another caught behind just as he was beginning to open his shoulders. From now on it would be all on Ardley, the keeper-batsman progressing to 82* at the close with Tesnan in support. England ended the day on 252/6, 103 runs in the lead, with a new ball due first thing in the morning.

The medium pacer's swing and seam with the new ball proved too good for the English tail, with Tesnan, Furball and Myheart departing in successive overs. The bowler claimed 5-65 at the dismissal of Myheart for the ninth wicket, and though Ardley was able to pick off enough runs to reach his hundred, Force was caught of Suifdadny to end the innings on 295, setting the visitors only 147 to win.
Myheart gave the home fans something to cheer when Burridge failed to keep his second ball from hitting the stumps, but Lewis and Super confidently led Australia to 40/1 after the morning session.
The dismissals of Super (lbw off Deen for 39) and Lewis (caught of Force for 49) meant that there would be no standout knock in the fourth innings, but the visitors never needed one. 1-0 Australia.
