The fastest bowler you have ever faced?

We had an overseas bowler last season, bowled well into the 80's (mph). His claim to fame was bowling out Steve Waugh in a state game.
I know someone has has the same claim to fame who plays club cricket in Bradford....I doubt he is in the 80mph region, he is about 44 years old now

2 seperate bowlers come to mind when i think fastest bowler.

1st time, was about 10 years ago, and we were playing some winter cricket on synthetic pitches. Guy named Phil Sugars i think, a big left armer who bowled at pace, on synthetic :(. Lucky me got to open. My partner and i managed to put on 60 in 10 overs, we have never run so many singles (trying to get off strike) in our lives haha.

2nd time was just over a year ago, Playing Surfers Paradise - Jeff Anning. He has played last couple of seasons for QLD Country. We bowled them out late in the day, and had a couple of overs left to bat out. This guy had been warming up for 30mins before the end of there innings, so there was no warm up balls. For some reason he wanted to take my head off, possibly cause i was not wearing a helmet. I tell you its amazing how well you pick up the ball when you are concentrating. He had been gunned @ 140+. The next week he bowled 1 short and outside off stump, i cut it, and it nearly went for 6 :). Then he bowled me 2 bouncers, 1st one i pulled for a single, next one was 5 yards quicker and i hit straight up in the air to mid off, obviously beat me for pace :(.

Sorry for the paragraph of never ending dribble, its 5:27am, Hayden just got out and im not happy :(.

on a side note, Jason Stein an Australian Country bowler had 1 of those balls with speedometer in them. He is genuinely quick, the guy above that i mentioned, well he is easily slower than J Stein. 1 ball, Jason Stein bowled, picked it up and it registered 151kmh.

Night everyone

*edit* spelling, grammar, the works... oh well... im tired

Facing Mark Cameron was probably the quickest spell I've faced, he had the ball reverse tanging both ways, which might have made it seem "quicker" than what it would have actually been clocking. Although a few guys in the side who'd played some pretty high standards of cricket remarked how he was getting it through well. He was decidedly quicker than Aaron Bird that day.

The balls with the speedometres in them are totally rubbish, by the by. Said was cousing was bowling at 131 IIRC, and he quite clearly doesn't get anywhere near that.

This guy looks rapid...oh wait its me!
Took 3-17 that day, In the Smedley throphy FINAL I might add.
Plus 28* to win us the match, putting on a 2nd wicket stand of over 80 with my mate Jud.

well judging by the hand position relative to the ball you are bowling no more than 65 mph. The ball has left the hand on a marginal upwards tragectory and the hand has caught up with the ball.

Its the 'Pommie Mbangwa Syndrome' :p

BTW, Is that an 8 year old at midwicket? :)

Mine is 80mph. Which is OK enough on a bowling machine in the nets but on an actual pitch was very tricky to face. It was for "Kent's Development XI" who I had the "fortune" of playing.

3 spring to mind for me:

Doug Bollinger - just before he went to grade - was rapid but raw - swung it a bit with a 2 piece ball on astro turf.
Wayne Holdsworth at school - he WAS quick - walked out to bat, took centre, looked around at the field and the keeper looked like a speck on the horizon - had a laugh to myself, then he bowled the first ball - and I stopped chuckling. Closest I came to doing any good was compiling some delicate leg glances - a couple of which went through gully, and i think i had the shortest backlift in the history of cricket that day.
Phil Alley - NSW quick - left arm, tall very awkward - thought him quicker than Bollinger but i was younger so probably more scared.

Dougie Bollinger went to my primary school... I remember when I was in Year 1, my Year 1 teacher told the class he'd play for Australia... he'd just gone into high school then. She wasn't too far off! :p

I'm confused. The guy in the photo looks mature and above the age of consent, whereas...
