The fastest bowler you have ever faced?

Also faced this guy in the U-18s league who was faster than the three I mentoined above. Thankfully the guy I'm talking about has just joined our team.. Considering I had faced back of a length on the bowling machine at 70mph this guy seemed a good 7-8 miles quicker than that. First 3 or 4 balls were all perfectly directed boucers right at the head and I could only duck just in time. This guy was as fast as **** tbh. He does have a very suspect action which probably increases his pace by a good 5mph but his run up was like 30 yards and all I could see was him sprinting up to the crease and hurling it down as fast as he could. After those bouncers he then bowls a perfect length ball which seams in a bit and bowls me with me not very far forward. It's certainly not easy to get the ball way over head height on scottish pitches so he must have been extremely sharp.

I've faced the Australian pacey four in 2004, Binger pelted me with a 150kmph shot at my stumps, I didn't even have time to move my bat!

I faced Don Nash, but only for one ball. I didn't really see it and had to use one of my other finely honed senses to work out I was missing a stump. I don't think he was really trying either.

Our Aussie can go up to about 75/76 when he is really cranking it up and I'm not a big fan of facing his bouncers. I faced 80mph on a bowling machine with a soft wind-ball and could play it fairly easily, but I'm sure it slowed down a hell of a lot in the air and off the pitch.

2 seperate bowlers come to mind when i think fastest bowler.

1st time, was about 10 years ago, and we were playing some winter cricket on synthetic pitches. Guy named Phil Sugars i think, a big left armer who bowled at pace, on synthetic :(. Lucky me got to open. My partner and i managed to put on 60 in 10 overs, we have never run so many singles (trying to get off strike) in our lives haha.

2nd time was just over a year ago, Playing Surfers Paradise - Jeff Anning. He has played last couple of seasons for QLD Country. We bowled them out late in the day, and had a couple of overs left to bat out. This guy had been warming up for 30mins before the end of there innings, so there was no warm up balls. For some reason he wanted to take my head off, possibly cause i was not wearing a helmet. I tell you its amazing how well you pick up the ball when you are concentrating. He had been gunned @ 140+. The next week he bowled 1 short and outside off stump, i cut it, and it nearly went for 6 :). Then he bowled me 2 bouncers, 1st one i pulled for a single, next one was 5 yards quicker and i hit straight up in the air to mid off, obviously beat me for pace :(.

Sorry for the paragraph of never ending dribble, its 5:27am, Hayden just got out and im not happy :(.

on a side note, Jason Stein an Australian Country bowler had 1 of those balls with speedometer in them. He is genuinely quick, the guy above that i mentioned, well he is easily slower than J Stein. 1 ball, Jason Stein bowled, picked it up and it registered 151kmh.

Night everyone

*edit* spelling, grammar, the works... oh well... im tired
I've played Jeff Anning too, and I've heard of Jason Stein but never played against him.

The fastest would have to have been Wesley Hall without a doubt. He was playing for Qld in the Shield and was our Coach in Grade. He held nothing back even in the nets bowling to his own players. The wiliest would have to have been a leftie from WA by the name of Bruce Reid. He could make that red ball move either way at least 10 feet(or so it seems).

You faced Wes Hall...wow, one of the most fearsome of all bowlers

All I know was that on a sticky wicket he could make the ball talk like a parrot. I had to have a good cup of tea after facing him.

Ha Ha - Nashie - was probably having a beer & a smoke between overs - relaxed sort of bloke.

Don't really have that many out and out quicks at my level. We did play against a guy who was bowling 60-65 but he turned out to be a 1st XI cricketer. A few guys in the nets can push 70 but not consistently enough in matches. I think i may be close to hitting 70 in the nets but Matches its around 60-65, but obviously i can't face myself.

Kim Hancock...went to my school. Remember facing him when he was 7th form and I was 3rd form. Scary...he was seriously quick at one stage, probably round 145-150km

Fastest I faced, as an openining batsman, was a Pakistani import. Dont recall his name at the time. Could have been a young Shoaib Akhtar, for all I know.

Anyways, he was so fast, I cud'nt see the ball. Like batting blind.
Good thing we dont allow bouncers.

I still have those deliveries etched in my brain cells.
