Our selection issues get worse now, with Verghese and Halsey being inactive. Luckily we've got McKern now, so that's 12 players to pick from. This is the side I was thinking about for the Green game:

PE Young (vc)
RGEWS Cribb
MW DeSilva
SE Fuller (c)
A Crampton (wk)
MJC Currie
CD McKern
GS Gooljar
AAA Collins
MS Smith
TJ Demeza

Couple of spinning options and five or so seamers to pick from. Obviously lacking in batting, but the only player who is available and not in the side is Dunn. :p
You do know that McKern is one of the worst bats in the game and Gooljar is an all rounder?

Once again, lack of simming averages...

McKern's a decent batsman in one dayers though, so surely it would carry over to FC?

50 runs @ 6.25 with a high of 8* before this season.

Gooljar is NOT an allrounder!!!

McKern is a rubbish batsman though.
Oh i remember him being listed somewhere as a spin bowling all rounder. Must have been thinking of someone else.

2007 - the year of the Warrior.
You won't win anything until you get rid of Tony Martin.
Ropati at five-eighth is a bit of a worry as well but he started to come good at the end of the season so I'll reserve judgement.

Martin won't make the starting 13 next year hopefully... but remember he did win a premiership with Melbourne.

Ropati's future is in the centres imo. He is an ordinary player but has a decent running game.

Yeah, I think Ropati would be a pretty good centre. Still needs to work on defence though.

Martin may have played in a premiership winning team, but I don't like the expression you have used, saying he "won a premiership." Melbourne won the premiership, not Martin, and I'm sure they still would have had he not played. He's also lot a lot of pace off the mark since he injury troubles - he still seems reasonably quick over 60m but his acceleration of 10 or 20 isn't what it used to be. His defence is about as bad as Ropati's.

Something needs to be done about the five-eighth position though. Ropati is not the answer, Witt is not the answer, Fien is not the answer and Clearly refuses to give Hohaia a proper run there.

You said the Warriors can't get near a premiership with Martin in the side. All i was saying was that Martin has been a part of a premiership winning side before. Although he is probably not as good a player now as he was back then.

In saying that I don't rate him at all, and would be surprised if he starts many games next year.

I would say Witt will get a shot at 5/8. Hopefully he is another Michael Luck...
