Well after somewhat of an absence, I have returned to Cricketweb and have had a chance to review my performances. I'm actually somewhat shocked to have not been deemed inactive as I was deemed inactive for a much shorter absence last season (and then confirmed activity only a few hours later) but I'm certainly glad it wasn't the case as I'm back now to find I've been in some decent touch.
I haven't had a chance yet to evaluate all the performances of individual players but I have checked all my performances and most importantly, the match results (of the games listed in the quick links thread anyway - Ill check to see if there are more recent ones after this post - so this post is based on the warmups, the first two FC games and the first OD game). I certainly got off to a good start in the FC warmup matches as did the team as a whole - my extremely slow batting even proves frustrating for the opposition when I don't score many, but it must have been torture for the bowlers as I racked up 180 in a big win. I'd like to thank Liam for being given yet another opportunity to impress after a few seasons filled with glimpses but nothing substantial - his patience with me seems to have paid off (although I often score big in warmups and then fail later, so we'll just have to wait and see..).
My good form in the the warmup matches was rewarded with a spot in the starting XI, and although I performed decently and seem to be forming a good partnership with Pete (who is in great form I must add), I slipped into my old habit of doing the hard work and scoring pains-taking forties without going on to make a big score. This was dissapointing as my dismissal sometimes triggered somewhat of a middle order colapse - although the bowling has been the main concern being disgracefully inconsistent. We could have won both of the first two first class matches but lost due to being too patchy - we need to be more ruthless and not let the opposition back into it - particularly myself now that I have some experience under my belt.
The first one dayer proved fruitful for the club, which also points to a possible lack of consistent ruthlessness (if that is indeed a word). Over a shortened timeframe, we didn't really have a chance to blow the game and we won easily in the end as our side is extremely talented. If we can apply this over longer periods and more consistently, we should go a long way in both competitions.
(I'd also like to apologise if there are any typos in that as it's far too long to check over!)
