What's the lineup for our opener FC vs the blacks?
Would it be something like this? :
Fitzsimmons
Young
Cloete
De Silva
Fuller
Camps (c)
Crampton +
Halsey
Collins
Patrick
Demeza

12th Wilshere
13th Popat

?

Im pretty sure that Wilshere will play in front of a bowler you listed.

I might get a game also, as De Silva's form in the warmup matches hasnt been anything to write home about.

Which one? I can't see one that I'd drop
Im not sure, thats why I just said "a bowler you listed."

It will more be a case of balance rather than actual ability. Liam and Sean batting in the top 6 really allows another batsman to play, especially with the quality and form of our specialist bowlers.

I would like to give my spot to Cribb or Wilshere for the upcomming match. my form in FC warmup matches have been awful.

I believe the team has already been decided on... with a few changes from that lineup. Liam will announce it today some time I'm sure.

Small point, why did you leave Popat out?

Good game blues.

Awseome start to the season :)
Well bowled Nath, well bowled Sean.

Well batted Wilshere, Fitzy and Crampton in the first, and eased to victory in the second!

Hopefully a good start to a good season guys, keep it up.

Good win to start the season. :) Excellent batting and bowling across the board, though on a personal note I was very disappointed to be left out after seemingly being assured of a spot, in the FC side at least. I can't see changes being made to a winning team, so I'll have to wait until the internationals head off, I guess.

I think the only problem we had with selecting you was that someone had to miss out. We basically have three seamers competing for two new ball spots, and it was either leave out Sudeep or yourself. Given how Sudeep wasn't used on the Dome surface, I think for the less spin-friendly pitches in the future we might look at including all three seamers, but Popat does add something to the batting as well and was in excellent form during the off season so you just missed out.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be a regular later in the season.

That's fine, I was just surprised that I've seemingly been demoted to third or fourth seamer during the off-season. Perhaps that's always been the case, but I thought that, even if I'm not the best Blue seamer, I do at least have the best average, and would've been in slightly stronger consideration.

I suppose there is probably a perception that, if we're only going to play two specialist seamers, my medium pace isn't going to warrant being given the new ball. That's fair enough, it's just that we played three specialist seamers in virtually every game last season so I was expecting the same to occur this season. I can understand if there has been a conscious decision amongst the selectors to alter the make-up of the bowling attack in this way, given the number of allrounders we have, it just seems a bit out of the blue, no pun intended.

Anyway, as I said, there's no need to change a winning team.

I'd actually prefer if we played all three main-strike seamers in every game...

That's what we are in the squad for, to bowl ... brings up the age old problem that you guys know how to bat aswell as bowl part time seamers. :P

Might sound oldschool, but I tend to think that 6 specialist/real solid batsmen, Crampton or Jellet as the specialist keeper who is a solid bat, and then 4 bowlers (1 spin, three seam) is how we should front up.
Well, to start the season anyway, i'm sure with all the cricket that we are going to be playing that Nath, Ad's or myself will need to be rested at some stage.

That might give the illusion that we would have a long tail, but realistically Tom and Adam aren't crabs with the bat like I am. I won't comment about Nath, he is a bit uptight about his batting ;)

This is for FC anyway, OD'ers play all the all rounders ;)

Just my opinion.
