What's everyones thoughts about starting xi's for both the shorter and longer form of the game for us next season ?

At first glance i'm thinking 4d might be :

Fitzsimmons
Young
Cloete
De Silva
Fuller
Camps (c)
Crampton (k)
Popat
Halsey
Collins
Demeza

2 spin options, might have to be amended for non turning/bouncy pitches.
But we still have camps/fuller/de silva backup seam bowling to complement demeza/collins, or patrick/collins or demeza/patrick

Possibley on hard decks, extra specialst seamer, playing all three, take out a spin option and then the allrounders concentrate on batting.

I know for sure that the OD team should be totally different, with several players not playing (my thoughts: Demeza, Young, maybe halsey (dependent on track))

I thought by the end of last season that Young was preferred with the gloves in 4d over you, for one reason or another.

I didn't list the one day team, but you are definelty a starter there i thought.

relax. when Simon,Young,cloete,camps,Halsey and maybe popat goes on international duty I don't think we even have enough players to fill a team.

Must say, I agree with that 4D team, in all seriousness.

Long batting, many bowling options. Wicket takers, containers. And Demeza! =)

I don`t think you can really expect to walk straight into a team. No-one starts at the top.

The Blue selection panel for the next season will be comprised of 5 people - Camps, Fitzsimmons, Cloete, Fuller, Young.

Regarding selections, I expect Dylan Jellett will get a fair bit of playing time in 5D, at least initially. Almost 3000 FC runs and 160+ dismissals...

Adam Collins will undoubtedly be a fixture in the FC side, but hasn't yet established himself in OD cricket. My preference for the composition of the side is a 4-seam attack on the PDV Dome surface. The attack would comprise of 3 specialist seamers and Fuller preferably.

The Season sees a 2-Test series against Sri Lanka at the start and later England tours CWLand for 5 Tests and 7 ODIs. Thus, there will be lots of opportunities for the younger players of the squad.

Also note that there will be a couple of preseason matches as there were last season. These will go a long way to determining the opening day XI.

I hate those bloody one dayers. There is this stupid no ball rule for more than 1 bouncer an over..... stupid game.
