Captains "Player of the Quarter"
I've been giving points for performances so far this season, and decided that now we're into the end of the first quarter (for us, anyway) I thought I'd give a short review and award the best and most consistent player for us over the first quarter (I've not given myself any votes, by the way.)
We've obviously struggled in dealing killer blows so far this season. We've had a pretty young side without much big time experience and as a consequence of that we've probably not performed as well as we'd like, but I'm not too worried. The quality of players that we've got to come back is high and the match experience the young guys have gotten over the past quarter can only help the side as a whole when they've got some more experienced players to take the field with. With Borcich and Patrick both due back for our next games, the experience the youngsters have gathered can be best put to use in support, rather than leading the attack.
Anyway, the Black player of the First Quarter, by quite a margin, is
Zac Gelman. In OD, he's taken to the new ball and done immensely, as well as play some good knocks down the order (albeit lacking the slog ability
). In FC he's scored plenty of runs and toiled with the ball very well. While not putting in the massive performances he's generally given it his all every game, despite the situation, and due to that he thoroughly deserves the award.
The runner up was
Ash Chaulk, who played some great innings in both FC and OD. Followed by
Dave Richards who's put in some great OD performances for the first time in his career, as well as some consistent stuff in the longer form.
Congrats and hopefully we can kick on in the next few quarters.
