Great performance by both the openers against Colts (I think). I hope my FC form can be better than my OD, being rather poor so far. I'll hold my hand up for that.

Yeah a good way to go into the 3 day break for us, with a convincing OD win and hanging for a good draw against a much improved Green side in the 5-dayer. We'll have Borcich and Patrick back for our next match, which should add much more penetration to the bowling attack, expecially in FC as we've certainly lacked a killer punch in that form of the game.

Captains "Player of the Quarter"

I've been giving points for performances so far this season, and decided that now we're into the end of the first quarter (for us, anyway) I thought I'd give a short review and award the best and most consistent player for us over the first quarter (I've not given myself any votes, by the way.)

We've obviously struggled in dealing killer blows so far this season. We've had a pretty young side without much big time experience and as a consequence of that we've probably not performed as well as we'd like, but I'm not too worried. The quality of players that we've got to come back is high and the match experience the young guys have gotten over the past quarter can only help the side as a whole when they've got some more experienced players to take the field with. With Borcich and Patrick both due back for our next games, the experience the youngsters have gathered can be best put to use in support, rather than leading the attack.

Anyway, the Black player of the First Quarter, by quite a margin, is Zac Gelman. In OD, he's taken to the new ball and done immensely, as well as play some good knocks down the order (albeit lacking the slog ability :p). In FC he's scored plenty of runs and toiled with the ball very well. While not putting in the massive performances he's generally given it his all every game, despite the situation, and due to that he thoroughly deserves the award.

The runner up was Ash Chaulk, who played some great innings in both FC and OD. Followed by Dave Richards who's put in some great OD performances for the first time in his career, as well as some consistent stuff in the longer form.

Congrats and hopefully we can kick on in the next few quarters.

Congrats to Zac, he's been consistent all quarter. Hopefully once a few players come back we'll improve.

Side for the FC fixture vs. Blue

Borcich, Stedman and Patrick return to the side for Syed, Meeks and Roberts respectively. No need to worry for those guys though, they'll surely have many more chances to prove themselves and they'll be much better for the experiences early in the season. Hopefully the added experience to the side will help us to win a few more games.

Congrats Gelman, doing brilliantly so far.

Looks like a strong team for the next game too, should get the win.

Just for the record, Gelman's first quarter stats:
FC:
263 runs @ 37.57, 1 50, HS: 76
13 wickets @ 38.77, BB: 3-63

OD:
43 runs @ 21.50, HS: 28
9 wickets @ 18, BB: 4-49

They're not huge numbers, but they're good, consistent numbers, of which a lot of the rest of us haven't put in.
