Just want to see akhtar bowl over the best batting lineups in the world (no offence NZ), then i will deem how much he has improved. He needs to perform against aussies and eps india. All i can picture of akhtar is him getting tonked by sachin WC '03 and trescothick natwest '03, annilhated.

Well said, though had i said the same thing i would have been called pure flame-baiter and biased Indian.

When i praise/criticise any player people start attacking me but the same people are trying their best day and night to degrade India's highly talented cricketer in Ajit.

he got hammered by sachin in wc2003 but that was the only time the indians got on top of him......before that he has consistently destroyed the indian battting lineup on a number of occasions.....dating back to the historic test match when he clean bowled tendulkar for a first bal duck.....the following tri series in india after that.....sharjah cup immediately after that.....his consitent performance in the 99 word cup.......as well as the vb series following the world cup

his recent performance in englan in the match one day series against england in england he troubled the english bowlers consistently.......was just a bit unlucky........

then again against south africa in oct-nov last year.....the south africans have a very decnt batting lineup as the england team found out in the summer....he won the series for pakistan......

as far as the aussies are concerned......october 2002....1st test match at colombo.....he was in fiery form....came up with a brilliant spell and was the primary reason for dismissing austrailia for 127 in the second innings....

he has been a bit inconsistent i admit.....but after the poor showing in the world cup....he seems to have got his act together....and the kiwi batting lineup may not be the best in the world but it certainly is not bad as a lot of teams have failed to win test series there......like india in 2002 got hammered in newzealand.......

not only is he deadly but a great bowler at the death......bowling those fast inswinging yorkers.....

when it comes to a wicket taking bowler ......i dont think that apart from muralitharan there is any one but him........yeah that will be an idea.....shoaib and muralitharan in the same team....nice

I'm not doubting his abilities, just looking forward to watching him in action in the test series, because to be fair he hasn't performed brill against big teams-australia in tests- 20w @ 38.55 and obviously hasn't had the chance against india. His ODI form is obvious, though he has sometimes choked on big occasion, but no doubt he will improve with experience. However test matches are a different game altogether, just look at brett lee against india, he was no where in the tests but finally found form in the ODI. Can't wait .

IMO Shoiab Akhtar is the toughest bowler to face at any time when he is in rhythm and he hasn't been out of rhythm much in recent times. He WILL have his moments against India where he will have 20-5 but i hope it happens against the tailenders after the top batsman have scored enough runs

I am not questioning Shoaib's ability with the ball, just trying to find the destruction he has caused in the Indian batting line up that too on a no. of occasions.

It's ironic that you accuse us of remembering 2003 world cup (which is still fresh in the memory of Cricket fans) and then you yourself go 5 years back to remind us of what happened at Calcutta. I know what happened there, The best bowler in that Game was Srinath and best batsman Saeed Anwar.

As far as Shoaib's average again India and Australia is concerned, well it's below his overall avg and strike rate is poor as well.

That's very much open to debate.

It's actually interesting that we have many discussions about the best batsman in the world, but very few about the bowlers.
