The avatar challenge

I'll take that as an 'I'm all for taking part in ridiculous avatar challenges, please count me in, like Gelman and Sam', shall I Jamee?

Sounds good, great that you're entering the spirit.

Because it was a win-win situation for me. I could choose someone elses avatar for a year if Australia loose, but if they won, it wouldn't matter because I deliberatley chose a player that would most likely feature in my avatar anyway.
It was a to-myself challenge, though, as I remember - "I'll have Hussey as my avatar for a year if Aus win". Not "any Aussies fancy a bet here?"
Aseem is 2 years older than me, I really don't think that it should come down to me encouraging him, he's plenty old enough to make desicions for himself, even if they are crazy and stupid.
I could give you people who are 2 years older than me who are less responsible about gambling than me. Heck, I could give you people who are 30 years older than me in said boat - age is not the sole denominator of good-sense.

People should always, always IMO take it upon themselves to try and reason with those who are worth reasoning with.

Richard - takes avatars ridiculously seriously.
Well if you don't take 'em with any seriousness, TBH, it begs the question of why not simply never put one up?

And as I said - while there are many things in life more important than an avatar on CW, I gurantee you someone is going to seriously regret this - very probably Aseem.

Agree with the bolded part.

Erm, you are thinking about yourself and not Turb here. Given how confident you appear to be on Australia defeating India, a bit soft the way I see it.
Please don't tell me how I'm thinking. I don't want to see the kid lose his avatar forever because of some moment of madness, it's not really too hard to understand. The fact that I've left it open till after the Vic game shows I'm more than willing to go on with it after he has time to think about it.

As Phoenixfire said, he is old enough to make his own decisions. Any way, as you are giving him more time to decide, that is pretty fair - I understood it differently earlier.

I found these comments quite funny because of the 'incident' that took place on the last few pages of this thread.

Once again, no moment of madness, I am not gonna change my mind no matter what. Even if the world flips upside down and jumps onto the Sun, I still won't change my mind.

As far as losing the avatar is concerned, I hope you are talking about yourself and Sam, cuz you're the ones losing it.

If I had the power to do it, I don't think I'd permanently change someone's avatar (unless it was Gelman) so I can see why he isn't taking the bet here. Permanent avatar changes are just a bit much IMO, even if you were somehow 100% confident of winning.

I will bet that Murali will take the same, or more wickets than Brett Lee in the next match. I don't know why I am saying this as I think SL will be destroyed by an innings, but just a feeling I have.

Put up each others avatar for a week to the first person that accepts.
Err, you either accept it or you don't. No tentatively accepting bets.
I didn't - I said I'd have first tabs on it. I then subsequently said bi could have it.
i will take that ....one week rite......
Yours for one week
