The avatar challenge

Haha. Yo mad.

And I don't see the point in these nothing-to-gain forfeits (a la Hingston's original that started the whole movement), TBH. The real fun is in having a bet with another member, where if this happens or that doesn't happen one person changes the other's avatar, and vice-versa if the inverse.

What do you gain by saying "if The Earth becomes The Moon I'll eat green cheese"? The "Ha! See, I told you it wouldn't!" comment when it doesn't? :dontgetit

If someone could explain to me the thrill of this one-person-betting-against-event thing I'd appreciate it.
Open to others, but primarily aimed at you Richard. :)

I will change my avatar if Harmison plays in all 4 Tests against WI and doesnt take 15 or more wickets.

The person who takes me up on the challenge will have to change theirs if he does.

Both potential avatar changes to be cricket related, the choice of the Challenge winner and for a period of 1 month.

Hmm...

It's certainly a tempting proposal. Though the fact that I can't give you B*Witched does detract a little, although the knowledge that I'd receive something cricket-related in return is obviously an offset.

Let's lay this down straight: if Harmison plays all 4 Tests, one of us changes his avatar, if he takes 15 wickets or more it's me, if 14 or less, it's you. If he doesn't play the whole series, the contest is null&void.

Yes?

And how long do I have to think it over?

Thats about right. Sounds pretty fair, though Id completely forgotten about the Irish girl avatar festish when I laid down the rules :) T'was not designed to avoid that particular fate.

As for how long, if someone decides to take it before you decide then I will go with them. So basically, how long is a piece of string?

And this is presuming you're laying-down a I-get-to-change-yours-otherwise?
TBH Richard, the one-way challenges are a way of expressing confidence that your prediction will be correct.

I am, however, happy to make my bet a two-way one in the interest of fun. Are there any takers?

Whatever it takes!!!
I have to change my avatar this weekend to that Bewitched thingy, since I have one more week to honour my commitment to Richard. :(

Then, I have to get McGrath up there.... Not just because he is retiring but also because he was the MOTS of the WC and I think I mentioned in the WC avatar challenges thread that I will have the MOTS as my avatar for a week or so.

Anyone game to bet their avatars against India not winning both tests against Bangladesh?

If India win both tests, the guy accepting the challenge can get to choose my avatar and otherwise, I get to choose his. Any takers??

Yep, I'll take up that challenge honestbharani.

Just to reiterate

If India don't win the series 2-0 I will choose your avatar.
If India win the series 2-0 you will choose my avatar.

Don't let Shortpitched forget that from the moment he has Ricky Ponting in his avatar, he can't change it for a whole year, starting this week it should be.

Digging this up after the success of the Ashes and WC avatar challenge threads.

I'll get the ball-a-rolling.

If England fail to win the First Test V West Indies by more than 100 runs or 5 wickets, I shall change my avatar to whatever the first non-Englishman to respond chooses.

EDIT - the avatar will last until the end of the Test series
Hm...hard to see England collapsing against Taylor and Edwards, but all the same I could do with a change from Nemi. (She's been up there three and a half years or so, bar a quick spot of La Linea when Italy were playing France at the WC final.)

Then again, I'm probably supporting the wrong team to join such a challenge :p

I held my breath there, TBH, Hakon, when I saw you with last-post - I just don't think I could take a different avatar underneath Samuel_Vimes.

I hope he's going to use different pics - no part of his challenge stated it'd be the same pic all year.

I hope he can find some rather more smiley ones, myself, though your Hussey pic is about as good a one as I've ever seen of him. Good idea to get started early, too, as you can probably finish early (maybe even a month or so) and no-one'll notice.
