The ATG World XI's game

As a bowler he began by modelling his style closely upon that of Blythe, but of late he has gained much in individuality. He makes good use of his height-he must be well over 6ft.-and bowls with an easy swing.

Wisden - Frank Woolley

Colin Blythe was born in 1879 in Deptford, but he learnt his cricket in the Nursery at the County Ground in Tonbridge. He was a slow left arm bowler and there was beauty as well as deadliness in his bowling. The rhythm in his action and his mastery of flight and spin were poetic. ‘Charlie’, as he was known, took 2,506 wickets at 16.81 runs each for Kent and played 19 times for England.

Tonbridge Cricketers
Again, it seems that Woolley's natural inclination would be to bowl slow spin.

It's difficult to find any definitive descriptions of his bowling; but I would hazard a guess and say he bowled more slow left arm orthodox than medium pace.
Yeah cheers. I thought that would be the case, but wasn't 100% given his profile mentioned both.

Wasim Bari.

I found it difficult picking the best quick, so I've gone for two spinners who were brilliant. I probably overall think that Mark Boucher is the keeper that should be chosen next in a normal side, but the thing that holds me from selecting him in this team is his ability or inability against spin. From the footage of Bari and what I've read about him, I think he is the best pure keeper available against spin, better then Latif even.

It's getting trickier now

Bowler 1 the criminally underrated Sylvester Clarke is the easy one

Bowler 2 I'm going to give a shout to Bert Ironmonger, although he does nothing for the batting or fielding

Keeper - got to go for the best so I'll follow my Dad's view and say, again, Wally Grout

Not sure how he was against spin per se, but Bert Oldfield's stumping record was extremely good at the time and utterly ridiculous by modern standards.

I remember seeing one of the World Series Classics ODIs on FoxSports, Pakistan vs Australia, with Bari wicketkeeping; he copped one on the chin off a mildly successful off-spinner, then took a fantastic stumping off him a couple of balls later. Great wicketkeeper.

I think it was this game - Ijaz Faqih the bowler.

It's been a while since the last vote, so I think I'll call it here.

Latif beats out Boucher by a vote and Prasanna gets ahead of Asif; looks like we're getting a pretty strong spin attack.
