Interesting. I mean what aspect of de Villiers game is unorthodox and how much value do you put into this? I agree that his fielding is top draw and he can attack and play defensively when its needed to. For mine AB was just chosen a little early as we have no idea what is going to happen for the remainder of his career.Ah, probably where you and I are different. I am certainly willing to vote for someone like Archie Jackson in the next round instead of Mahela (if it came to a one-on-one) because of his abundant natural talent. That natural talent is why I rate de Villiers so highly, amongst other things. His fielding, unorthodoxy and tempo changes also give him a huge boost for me.
I may have forgotten someone, but not Archie Jackson as he never once batted at 3 in Test Cricket and I wanted this team to have someone who has.Hill- narrowly squeezes out Archie Jackson, purely because he didn't make the shortlist and is therefore unlikely to win.
Whoops, I always thought that Jackson was a first drop batsman and that Bradman continued in his place after he died.I may have forgotten someone, but not Archie Jackson as he never once batted at 3 in Test Cricket and I wanted this team to have someone who has.
BTW, I just felt like having a separate question for number 3's as its a completely different position to say number 5 and we usually lump them together. Not that its really needed, if you look at the first drops selected so far, they have all been absolutely world class.
Glad Gary Kirsten got chosen. I only just included him this round - it was an oversight, as he deserved it as much as some and more than others (Mark Richardson) who were picked earlier.
True, but why no Herbie Taylor on your list?Glad Gary Kirsten got chosen. I only just included him this round - it was an oversight, as he deserved it as much as some and more than others (Mark Richardson) who were picked earlier.
