Proven against high quality pace attacks, and having opened the batting usually good enough to withstand spin once set.

Was thinking of including Boycott as an opener, but had decided on Barrington as my number 3, and I didn't want to bore the audience to death if those two got in together. But Barrington can be the rock for this team to bat around, and set themselves up to bat for long periods around him.

Alright, let's start on the World C team.

1. Do you disagree with the batting order of the World B lineup? If so, what changes should be made?

4. Do you want this team to have 4 bowling options or 5 (most likely in the form of an all-rounder)?

In organizing the base of our bowling lineup at the beginning, I am hoping that it will give us more knowledge as to whether we should play a specialist batsman, genuine all-rounder or a Worrell-type fifth bowler at number 6, therefore giving us a more balanced team at the end.

Regarding Vijay Merchant, I don't get why he's underrated so much here. It's not that we need high no. of test matches to rate a player. We rate Barry Richards and WG Grace pretty highly, for example.

Vijay Merchant has the 2nd best first-class average ever IIRC, after a certain Donald Bradman. He played well in whatever little test match opportunity he got, and absolutly tore apart County bowlers of all classes in his 2 County stints. He has a legitimate case of being rated higher than any of the remaining opening batsmen IMO.

I looked further into Merchant and it does seem like he is a fantastic player, but if we go on FC records to that extent, should we also rate Ponsford, Woodfull and Hassett higher?

I’m a big fan of the aggressive/defensive opening combination. Nearly all the great opening partnerships are built on this mixture. Greenidge/Haynes, Hayden/Langer, Slater/Taylor and many other examples. Hayden and Boycott represent the two extremes in opening style, however I like this right/left combination
