Yeah Buttler looked like he was playing on a different pitch to everyone else in that WC final. Stokes got them over the line (well, atleast to the line I suppose), but the buttler knock was the best in the game.
Dharmasena (and the wrong end of Stokes' bat) got them to the line

I for one don't understand why that final is considered a good game. It was pretty farcical for mine. It was not someone's brilliance but a random off the bat overthrow and incorrectly ruled 6 runs that made it a tie. And then to make it worse most boundaries decided the outcome. Just because it was close doesn't make it a great game.

The game was flat out gripping throughout even without some of the weirdness. Went down to the wire and was generally fantastic cricket throughout. This might be the worst opinion I've ever seen on the forum.

The finish was utterly farcical and stupid and I can see why for some that would take away from the quality of the game itself. Its a like a movie that was awesome but had the most stupid and frustrating finale. Both opinions are valid and it is silly to call it the "worst opinion on the forum" especially given the takes we have seen in CW.

I knew it was not going to be popular take. The last moments of the game left a bad taste in the mouth. Not because of who won (I was cheering for England throughout) but how it all happened. I don't remember the game fondly unlike, to give an obvious example, tied 99 world cup semi

I think your point was pretty weak. You said the game shouldn't be considered good just because it had a close finish, implying that the rest of the game wasn't great, but the only negative you've presented is that the finish was farcical. The game had such great cricket all throughout to the extent that saying it wasn't even a merely good game is a pretty ridiculous opinion. The end was just one part of it.

It's like saying the sopranos in its entirety is a bad show because you think the ending sucked.

It's irritating that it happened to be scheduled on that day and I couldn't watch the 2nd innings.

TBH Headingley a few weeks later turned out to be the memorable cricket event of 2019 (different format I know but still)

That WC final was a farce, entire game should've been replayed 2 or 3 days later, or been declared a draw.

It was basically like have a drawn/tied test series, and then have a T20 to decide the test series victor, and then when that was drawn deciding who won by whose whites were cleaner. So dumb.

The result was a farce but that doesn't change the quality of the 102 overs of cricket played.

I was going to go to bed when one side clearly had the upper hand. I ended up going to bed 30 overs into the England innings because I had to soul the next day and it was like 2 AM even though no side was really ahead. I regret not sucking it up and trying to survive on 3h sleep.

I would also say Holder isn't much chop in tests sadly. Gets regularly pwned by good batsmen. Roberts in maybe and Richards bowls more.
