Where's Brett Lee guys?

yeah he might even have a first class game by than.... seriously he isn't gonna get the chance to play a first class game for NSW again this summer... such a waste by the national selectors not to give him the chance to play for NSW.

I would have thought Mike Hussey would be a chance simply because of the fact he is so unbelievably good in England.
when langer got re selected i thought he would have got the job... always rated hussey, just cant see the spot for him unless hayden or langer get injured and Katich is already in the lineup...

Cameron White? Stuart MacGill is twice the bowler he is now and probably ever will be.
I completely agree with you, but the Australian selectors dont. Hauritz and White were both picked over MacGill for the tour of India.

As much as I am a Queensland Bulls supporter, I would be backing Haddin to be number 2 for Gilchrist.
I agree, but if Haddin finishes the season off in awful form, which I wouldnt rule out, I think Seccombe will be favoured.

matthew elliott (proven performers in england, and elliott has a contract, so they are obviously still thinking about him, as well as a very successful ashes tour under his belt)
Im really hoping that Matthew elliot wil get picked for the tour as he has been peforming well,

Hayden, Langer, Love, Ponting, Martyn, Clarke, Katich, Gilchrist, Seccombe, Watson, Warne, MacGill, McGrath, Kasprowicz, Gillespie, Tait

I think Lehmann will be gone by the Ashes. Love is there as he can cover the opening spot in case of injury. Lee unfortunately has not played a lot of cricket. Tait is performing week in week out.
I like this team- but I'd have Krejza for McGill.

Even Ponting?

I can't see the relatively-recently-anointed Test skipper going to the commentary box in the sky anytime soon.

Pretty much the current twelve picked for the Pakistan match, plus Katich I would think.

They'll probably take Tait for some experience too as he's seen as one with potential, plus Hodge as an another backup batsman. Another spinner or Haddin/Seccombe is also most likely to complete the 16.
So your thinking everyone will retire..i dont know what your on mate

Ah,crap I read it as who are certainties for the ashes, not to retire after the ashes. Oopsie.

edit:
Just a quick question.Who are the certainties to retire after the Ashes?
Boof might be gone but i think there might be a surprise retirement or two, saying this is the right time to retire but i don't know who from. The possibles are Mcgrath- I doubt this as he could continue to play for another year or two. Warne- Though he has expressed intentions to play for another 3 years.

Or possible an injury could come into play

I think McGrath's running hot, and his lack of injury worries could see him through for another two or three years.

Provided he doesn't retire on us.

I think he just quoted the wrong post.

It seems he was answering the original question of who would be in the squad.

20? WTF?

This isn't like the tours of England in the 30's where they played over 10 FC matches before the first Test (I think I once counted Australia playing 18 FC matches before the first Test match on of Bradman's first tours of England).

Craig, we need a team to play the 4th and 5th dead rubbers, so the seniors can have a rest up!
