Pakistan have lost 7 of their last 11 ODI's..and i beleive have only won 12 of their last 32 against the 'proper' teams

Sri Lanka in the last 27 games vs proper opp, have won 16.

New Zealand have won 15 out of 24 (and that includes a fair few games vs Australia)

Pakistan just arent in the race...I might just give second to Sri Lanka based on recent-ish form..but then again NZ did beat SL very convincingly, but then again, I doubt NZ would normally beat SL in SL in a one off game....

1. Australia
2= Sri lanka and New Zealand
3. the rest

In those 9 games they have only won one games, compare that with Sri Lanka's recent record aganist Australia 2 wins out of 5 games, that puts Sri Lanka in front IMO.

right so we cant include the last game coz it was a one off..we cant include the game before coz it was too long ago..but somehow NZ vs Australia is a better indication of Sri lanka being better!!!! Interesting one that

Nah is not like that but the side were completey different to the sides they have now then the ones they had in Sri Lanka two years. You can't really judge a side on one off performances as team improve or change their tactics throughout a series/tournment. u can't really show ur dominace over a side, unless you show it over a side in a 3 or 5 match series or an ODI tournment.

If u look at both side they beat everyone they come across expect Australia. New Zealand also lost to pakistan away, but that was with a second string side, so i don't really include it. The only thing that splits them is their performances aganist Australia. Sri Lanka were far more competitive then New Zealand.

Lets face it, Both NZ and Sri lanka have be comfortably spanked by Australia recently and whilst Sri Lanka have won one more game, NZ has played Australia playing at their very best.

So you've really then got to look at how NZ and sri lanka have gone against the other teams in the world and NZ have the better recent record. Along with comfortably winning the recent and only oneday between the 2 sides, and looked much the better side.

I don't Sri Lanka were spanked by Australia by any means, the only reason u guys got spanked so bad is cus u played so bad. TBH Pakistan and West Indies played better then you guys did aganist them.

SL are great at home, where conditions 100% suit them.....away from home its just shockingly bad

Since (though including the world cup), this is what SL have done away from home vs all the good teams (ie not Zimbabwe or Kenya or Bangladesh..although both Zimb and Kenya have actually beaten SL)

WWTLLLLWWLLLLWL

so thats 9 losses , 1 tie and 3 wins (2 vs WI) away from home in the last 13 away games..then add to that the losses to Kenya and Zimbabwe in that time, it just gets worse

I think its pretty safe to say that NZ boast a better away record than SL, which is probably a testement to NZ all round abilities compared to SL in the ODI game.

However, I think really there is so little to separate the two teams that really I cant split them, hence me saying that they are as good as each other

True to an extent. But who'd have to admit that NZ looked miles better than Both Pakistan and the Windies on the Australian leg of the oneday games. Those 2 close games where it was 1 all.

That was when NZ were full strength with Oram, Styris, Vettori and Cairns. There was another very close game NZ butchered in the 1st game of the NZ leg. And then, your right ,we played awful cricket. Towards the end though, NZ had a second string team and had possibly the worst bowling line up i've ever seen for a couple of the games. Mcmillan, Hamilton, Cumming, Mills and an out of form Tuffey. We had no Styris, Oram, Cairns or Vettori. So those last 3 games were a mismatch

Hmm the fact that we have only played 13 games away from home aganist proper team kind of shows our major problem, when it comes to playing away from home, we don't get enough games to improve. Unforunetly a lot of cricket boards around the world still see us as minnows and don't give us the opperunty to play away from home. This can be seen by that fact continuely get 2 Match Test Series where most proper sides get 3 test Match Series. Here is the last 5 Test Match Series away from home and their duration:
- New Zealand (2 Test)
- Pakistan (2 Test)
- Australia (2 Test)
- West Indies (2 Test)
- South Africa (2 test)

I'd back England to win against SL outside the sub-continent 75% of the time.

yes whilst sri lanka are dominant at home, once they leave the sub-continent they are not nearly as effective

I'm not convinced that England can be placed categorically above India until we've beaten them, which hasn't happened for almost 9 years, even if we are better than the last time we played them. I'd put India & England joint second, followed by SA, SL & Pakistan in a group depending on form, fitness, and where the game was being played.
i find it hard to believe that a team that goes undefeated for an entire year, and beats SA in SA can be put at the same level as a team that couldnt beat a pakistan side with a second string bowling attack at home. how long are people going to drool over indias performances in 2 series, one of which was also against a 2nd string australian bowling attack.
