Test batsmen and bowlers peaks. Criteria: At least 5 years and at least 40 innings

There's also the fact that talking about interesting and impressive peaks is different from player comparison threads. No-one goes into a Mark Waugh v Steve Waugh thread and says, "Steve was better in Tests but Mark was much better in county cricket."

Good call on Mark Waugh. He is the Australian with the most first-class runs over a five-year period when county cricket is included.

Never heard of Tushar Imran before, overall FC average of 42, anyone know more about him and why he didn’t play for Bangladesh for 14 years til his retirement?

What is Bradman’s best 5 year average?
Bradman (8 November 1935 - 11 March 1940): 8985 runs, average 109.57 / 41 centuries. 52 catches + 1 stumping / 68 matches, 94 innings.

He played no cricket between 11 September 1934 and 7 November 1935 due to illness. And none between 12 March and 24 December 1940, nor between 5 January 1941 and 23 December 1945, due to war.

The last phase of his career took place between 24 December 1945 and 8 March 1949:

5204 runs, average 92.92 / 25 centuries. 28 catches / 46 matches, 64 innings.

There were concerns about his fielding/fitness/attitude, but beyond anything else I think their selection policy has always just advocated for throwing in the next big thing from Under 19 cricket and sacking them forever if they look ****. Tushar was picked way too early and then cast aside as a proven failure before he was actually any good.

Would be interesting to see Devon Conway's 1st class runs and average in the last 5 years - first played for Wellington in 2017/18. Obviously runs would be well behind Turner's due to GT playing so much county cricket.

I have settled on a method to analyze test batsmen and bowlers peaks. The criteria is at least five years AND 40 innings. It can be longer, of course. The goal is to find the best averages for each batsman and bowler within the set criteria. Unlike 40 innings or five calendar years, which are easy to calculate, five years and 40 innings involves sifting through a lot of data on cricinfo. So far for batsmen I have:

Bradman (29/12/1928-24/6/1938): 103.23
Sobers (26/2/1958-6/6/1963): 78.53
Smith (1/3/2014-4/9/2019): 77.11
Richards (23/1/1976-27/3/1981): 74.72
Ponting (16/8/2001-1/12/2006): 74.01
Walcott (15/2/1952-13/3/1958): 72.78
Hutton (5/3/1949-30/3/1954): 69.88
Tendulkar (2/1/1997-21/2/2002): 68.02
Barrington (25/1/1963-8/2/1968): 67.87
Hobbs (1/1/1910-28/6/1924): 65.65
Lara (15/12/2000-9/3/2006): 61.32

Imran Khan (22/3/1982-4/6/1987): 16.21
Marshall (28/4/1983-30/6/1988): 18.29

My request is for some help in finding the best peaks for both batsmen and bowlers according to the above criteria. Post your findings below and thanks in advance! See if you can improve on my above findings. I will continue to post more batsmen and bowlers in this original post.
Hi,

Like peaks for batsmen and bowlers have you done any thread on troughs?
I think active Indian specialist batsmen are going through one of worst troughs in test cricket, Pujara, Kohli, Rahul, Rahane etc.
