lol bloke averaging 50 away from home pads his stats. Get in the bin.

If he averaged 50 at home and 30 away you’d have a point. Bloke shouldn’t be counted down for atg numbers away just because he’s second to Bradman at home.

Just junk posting.
I specifically refer to one portion of his stats and you conclude I must be talking about the other portion? No. His away stats are good. ABS are better

what's a FHTB? Flat home track bully?
That's what I read it as.

If he had said it about Warner I wouldn't say anything because he's kinda right. It's unfair to downtalk Smith because he's merely very good away from home rather than Bradman-lite though.

Are you being obtuse or just passive aggressive without having thought this through? If the later, it's pretty clear he has batted in more than one way in his career, that I would not be referring to matches where he has scored big, and it is highly unlikely I would be talking about the one era of his career in which he was consistently scoring big. If you know enough about his career to point to a period of downhill skiing you know enough to know what I'm referring to.

If you want to bring downhill skiing into it, he was not always the only decent bat in his team. It was a very strong lineup for a short portion of his career and a decent one for the majority of it. Regardless of the strength at the time though, there were times that were just beyond the abilities of anyone else going, and they could only look to him
You said he wouldn't bother getting runs when his team was winning. And implied that he hadn't done much "stat padding" relative to Smith. That is wrong.

He's not even merely good. He's been pretty amazing away from home.

de Villiers away stats are not better than Smith's. Belted the West Indies and in the UAE but other than that his stats aren't all that impressive.

He played 191 innings. Obviously there are going to be occasions where he scored runs when his team was on top. Bolo didn't literally mean it never ever ever happened. He meant that ABDV didn't primarily fill his boots when run scoring was easy. He scored a higher than average percentage of his runs in tough situations and arguably was below average in downhill skiing for a great batsman

How true this is idk, and I'm not defending it, but to attack him as tho he meant ABDV literally never scored runs when his team was on top is just being stupid

No. He literally said ab wouldn't "bother" downhill skiing. As though it was a conscious choice of his. I hate posts like that and will point them out for the rubbish that they are.

Smith is going to displace Pontin, Harvey Chapell and become Australia's clear 2nd greatest once he comes back hungry and desperate to redeem himself.

The term makes no comment on quality away. He simply needs to score heavily at home, and be significantly better at home than away. 50%ish in his case, a number that has been true for all top AUS bats I can think from this century exclusively.

stephen was claiming in all seriousness that Jackson Bird would be the best bowler in any other country other than SA just last year IIRC

gotta love it
No, I said he'd be in the team FFS. Bird would feast on English conditions and is a good enough bowler to push out the weakest bowler in any country not named South Africa or Australia.

Bird would not make India's pace attack. Bhuvi Ishant Shami Bumrah Yadav are all better
This would be a weirder thing to say than Trump's going to be President at the start of the decade

Are you dumb? o.O
Asserting that someone is dumb for suggesting that South African conditions are more difficult to bat in than English conditions? If you can handle swing, England is a relatively good place to open the batting in (there's a reason England has often had their best batsmen open). It's harder to open in South Africa.

The stats say that in the last ten years, the batting average of top 3 batsmen in England is 35.58 and in South Africa it's 34.01. So either you accept that it's easier to bat at the top of the order in England or you admit you're wrong.

Moron.

Maybe if he was pushing from first class cricket like he is in Australia. But he'd have been a staple from a few years ago.
