That run out was madLivingstone says otherwise…
3 players were bowled off their pads by deliveries that weren't going to hit the stumps. Only Salt really got a good one, but as the first delivery, he perhaps should've been playing more defensively. Even the Livingstone run out was farcical given the situation.Didn't watch the game, as not streamed. Listed to the BBC comms.
Lancashire's last 13 games in all formats since 19 July: thrashed by Northants then Sussex (T20), 2 x innings defeats on the bounce (championship) (first time for over 100 years), hopeless 50 over campaign (2/8 wins - only winning after losing the first 6). But managed to beat Cumbria in a friendly.
During which time they allowed an admittedly short of form overseas to go home and replace him with a specialist batsman who bats at 8 who was recruited "to strengthen the four-day team"
Aren't a lot of international teams preparing to play or actually playing now? I think that's an issue in terms of availability, with Eng/SL/Aus/Pak/Bang having been in action and West Indies currently hosting their t20 tournament. There isn't much to go around after that.3 players were bowled off their pads by deliveries that weren't going to hit the stumps. I found it almost amusing that Dockrell is the overseas player. I don't mean to be harsh on him, but was there really no one better available?
There's a fair number of half decent Aussies not doing a lot at the mo. Daniel Hughes has been a great signing for Sussex. I guess maybe Dockrell's work permit makes things easier too, but I'm not sure how he improves that team.Aren't a lot of international teams preparing to play or actually playing now? Dockrell was not originally selected. He played the last couple of group games as otherwise would have not been qualified to play last night. Played three games batted twice and bowled 1 over for 13 runs. Not overseas quality but who else might be available 17 July and 4th September? They tried to be clever. Bad recruitment is one of the principal concerns for the Members. Originally Lyon and Bruce were all season, all formats. Both gone by mid July. I can't claim that I am up-to-date with who is exactly where, but I was just figuring out who isn't available. Of course, India doesn't allow their players to play in overseas t20 tournaments, so that's a whole cadre of players unavailable too. There's a fair number of half decent Aussies not doing a lot at the mo. I was more suggesting that you don't need to be chasing the real stars who are playing International Cricket, there's plenty of decent guys out there who would be available (and probably better than Dockrell).I can't claim that I am up-to-date with who is exactly where, but I was just figuring out who isn't available. Have you not seen the great Phil Salt play before? Defending is for losers. He who dares wins. or occasionally gets out for **** all but them's the breaks.Only Salt really got a good one, but as the first delivery, he perhaps should've been playing more defensively.
A reminder he was a Sussex lad long before he switched to the dark side....and more fool him!!Have you not seen the great Phil Salt play before? Defending is for losers. He who dares wins. or occasionally gets out for **** all but them's the breaks.
Is Sam Curran really a nailed on England starter? I know t20 is his best format, but even so I'm not sure I'd want him as a must have.Giving the T20 captaincy to him after last night - big mistake. Curran has had IPL captaincy.
Having seen his performances in both the Hundred and again in the QF of the Blast, he ought to be just about the first name on the teamsheet. Is Sam Curran really a nailed on England starter? I know t20 is his best format, but even so I'm not sure I'd want him as a must have.
