Playing recently helps I would think. It always helps the batsmen in a crunch match if you have played the bowler just a few days back.

Very good decision from 2 perspectives..

a) Lanka would prefer to play New Zealand or England rather than RSA in the semis I would think.
b) They do not expose Vaas and Murali to the Aussies which might prove useful if/when they play the Aussies in the finals.
And what was going to be potentially the first exciting match of the World Cup goes down the drain. Might be heaps selfish on my part but after staying up for nearly every game and having not seen anything interesting yet (the two close games involving SL were boring for the most part) I think I was entitled to expect to see some good cricket tonight.

FFS.

Wow, totally did not know that Murali and Vaas weren't playing on top of Malinga's injury.

This match is now only important from a cricket dream team perspective, and that's it.

Was going for Sri Lanka, but by not playing there top team in this antisapated game I hope they get absolutely annihilated.

Agreed. I've loved this WC tbh, but this was the first game that really had the feeling of a big match-up and now it's potentially ruined. Even the Australia-SA game was just too far away from the end of the WC to mean much.
