Hobbs’ pre-war record is simply amazing
Crazy stuff, averages 64 and 65 in Australia and South Africa, but only 40 in England. Also crazy is his distribution. 9 matches in Aus, 9 in England, 10 in SA. Very even. 15 vs Aus @ 55 with 4 tons, compared with 13 vs SA @ 60 with 1 ton. Remarkably also, highest score of 187 vs Aus and highest score of 187 vs SA.

Going back with the whole 1-6 batsmen thing I’ve been doing recently.

Pre War

Hobbs 2465 @ 57.32
Other batsmen 1-6 14138 @ 26.73

In Australia
Hobbs 964 @ 64.26
Other batsmen 1-6 5681 @ 30.88

In South Africa
Hobbs 982 @ 65.46
Other batsmen 1-6 5386 @ 27.34

In England
Hobbs 519 @ 39.92
Other batsmen 1-6 3071 @ 20.75

Pre war England was not a friendly place.

He faced one of the greatest bowling lineups of all time in Ashes 47, 48, 50 and 53 in the form of the invincibles, the latter two serieses were played on extremely bowler friendly wickets, Hutton made

1,735 runs @ 57.83 in 36 innings.

second best batter was Denis Compton with 1,308 runs @ 40.87, though he was injured in 1950, he still only gets 1,255 runs @ 50.2, every other English batter averaged below 40, mostly under 35, Compton also completely was outperformed by miles by Hutton in the difficult tours/serieses.

Nothing else needs to be said, really.
Bradman stats in those matches?

English bowling was far weaker than Australian one until 1953, Bradman did not play in Ashes 1950 and 53 which were the serieses played on minefields, but...he did play in Ashes 1947 and 48, and he did exactly what one expects Bradman to do.

1,223 @ 111.18, 6 hundreds, 3 fifties in just 15 innings.

Insanity, as expected.

Are you by this referring to the whole mid War Era since Don debuted (aka, from the 30s)??? Because then it's wrong. Australia had O'Reilly over England, but the difference in the quality of pacers wasn't even funny. Australia's best pacer since the 30s was ****ing Ernie McCormick
