Cant believe people calling sunny fair wether batsmen. When india scored 400 thrice in fourth innings ( only team to do so) sunny was top scorer. Sunny scored 96 in his last match on rank turner. Think only few batsmen stood out against top class opponents like him

Batsmen performs better in batting friendly conditions!? people shocked.
I think this single quote sums it up perfectly. Every Great batsmen performs Great and against Great mostly in friendlier in conditions; and you can count on them to have a few ATG innings when the going gets tough, the latter Gavaskar has as well like 221 Eng or 96 Pak

I always thought this was common sense, India and Pakistan are both slow and obviously Gavaskar would develope his style to suit that, saying he's fair weather doesn't mean anything because Ponting, Kallis, Sangakkara are all fair weather and have more holes in their record than Gavaskar, who was actually competent in ENA and ABSOLUTELY dominated on slower wickets, anywhere in the world against any bowling.

Hutton faced tougher conditions

Not sure he faced the elite bowling that Viv, Sunny or Sachin did
He faced one of the greatest bowling lineups of all time in Ashes 47, 48, 50 and 53 in the form of the invincibles, the latter two serieses were played on extremely bowler friendly wickets, Hutton made

1,735 runs @ 57.83 in 36 innings.

second best batter was Denis Compton with 1,308 runs @ 40.87, though he was injured in 1950, he still only gets 1,255 runs @ 50.2, every other English batter averaged below 40, mostly under 35, Compton also completely was outperformed by miles by Hutton in the difficult tours/serieses.

Nothing else needs to be said, really.
