Winton almost suffering a BOT loss today. Rotated a lot to play a 31.5k rating side. Playing for IGT but still - bowled out for 164, Green Caps all out for 149 in reply

Keep Halliday - he looks to have been a fine SOD player so far, and just look to tinker with his T20 orders until something fits. Should always bat top 6 though at least, because that xp really is dire. 17+ attack is very valuable IMO. He also hasn't had chances for ages in T20s, which should be his best format. Bat him up top, go on! And speaking of Davidson, he's 12 experience and he's been fantastic the last season or two; Halliday's a worse player but only by 3 skill.

ZCC still won that match, thanks to an incredible Ghani knock.

All of Halliday's SOD runs have essentially come in two innings, one vs a bot.

He's got a chance to impress in some senior friendlies lined up. I'll probably hang onto him till the end of the season.

FHK somehow just 1 point off first place in their first season at SOD Div 1.1! The Asian metagame of turning tracks really suits them to a tee.

Inspired by StephenZA's analysis I have done one for my own side - especially as we'll be having a major overhaul once we have nothing to play for this season competitievly or in CWC6.

Batting

Winton Bat Actual.jpg

The following players who feature with the bat I'm 99% sure I'll be selling at the end of the season: Minesh Rana, Wouter Zietsman, Ronald Haines, Jacob West, Ray Horn.

Meanwhile I'm about 70-30 in favour of selling Rob Tweddle, if he wasn't homegrown I'd be 99% sure.

Winton Bowl Potential.png

The following players with the ball I'll be looking at getting rid off at the end of the season : Hannan Jaffer, Benjamin Woodford.

I have listed Roger Cotterell.

I may also offer out Matt Frith and Flinn Titt although not too certain. One annoying aspect is they are 2 of our better fielders. At 19 Matt Frith feels a bit old - he might not be young enough to feature in the next CW DEV competiton - which is likely the next time we'll have a chance of being properly competitive under these plans. But at 14 fielding, 20 potential and still 10 below his potential bowling I'm tempted to keep him around for a bit. Although we have enough bowling options - our likely new look side is fine in terms of bowling but really lacks in batting.

What amount do you think I could get for Matt Frith towards end of season - he's currently 19 yrs and 3 weeks.

I'm thinking along the same lines for Flinn Titt, he's younger, 10 below his potential too and a decent fielder although not at Frith's standard. He has useful lower order batting too. But I'm also fearful he could block some of development of our younger players and our green pitches mean its unlikely there will be the chance for Zulu to get many overs at Winton if Titt is there as well. The amount of seam bowling options I want to develop makes changing our pitch dynamics unlikely too

Looking ahead to the future I've taken Matt Frith and Flinn Titt out of the picture for now but they may well stay but if I'm thinking longer term I'll need to get rid of them at some point even if not at end of season.

As is evident in Foster, Phelps, Hayes I've got a solid basis for a seam attack with Howe and Goonesekara both exciting seam bowling all-rounder options.

Kudakwashe Zulu plays a part as our only specialist spinner with Paul Hailstone playing a part as a batter who can bowl some part-time spin.

However, when it comes to the batting I think we need some serious improvement....

Mettias is currently 17 years, 1 week and by the end of the season will be past 17 and a half. Not sure if I'll get the development I want within 3 years from him and his fielding at 1 current isn't great either. Only a recent signing but I may well sell. Unfortunately, we don't have huge funds at Winton so will be looking at the market but any sale (he may well end up staying if other options don't come around) is likely to come around once I've sold our better players post CWC6.

Brock Stone will stay around as will Pasindu Goonesekara and likely Paul Hailstone.

I've not yet made a final decision but I will likely rotate keeping duties between Sahir Shafiq and Rufaro Sutobe. Sutobe is a very recent signing but I'm thinking the plan might be he gets 2 games keeping+coaching, Shafiq gets 1 game keeping and some bowling in games and a couple years down the line I can have Sutobe as my main keeper with Shafiq as a credible backup keeping option who can also maybe be an allrounder when Sutobe is keeping.

I'm hoping my XI can look something like this

**
Goonesekara
**
Stone
Hailstone
Sotobe (wk)
Howe
Shafiq
Hayes
Foster
Phelps

In an ideal world I sell Mettias, bring in a player with the opener trait, bring in another batter to play in the middle order and maybe another seam bowler - unsure on this and if I do keep Frith I definetly won't need one. Might still sell Frith and hope fitness doesn't become an issue - the bowling options in this XI plus Zulu should be pretty easy to manage and ensure with 2 decent bowling coaches at the club already they are both getting near to 2 full games of bowling + coaching each week.

Hadn't realised but my DEV series with Free HK means we play each other 5 times in 7 days with the friendly DEV games on 18th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd before Winton face Free HK in a competitive DEV match on the 24th!

On that front I've challenged ataraXIa to a 4 match DEV series against our Winton CC side

And for our Charminster CC side I've challenged Ashgrove Astronauts to a 4 match DEV series starting Sunday night (@Jarquis)
As well having challenged Moo to a 4 match DEV series starting next Sunday

My SOD opener Simmonds (16/13/10) averages >20 in T20s and strikes at >120 at #6 or #7 despite low experience; make of that what you will.
I might owe a lot to ataraXIa for this post. I immediately thought of Rob Tweddle (16/14/9) who often plays at 4 for us. Played him a bit lower in a couple of friendlies over the last few hours.

Vs our Affiliate Charminster he hit 86 from 52 batting at number 6 in a DEV friendly - his side Winton batting first.
vs AtaraX Wellington hits an unbeaten 62 from 39 batting at number 5 in a DEV friendly - Winton chasing.

Up against a low 50k bowling attack in middle overs and high 40ks in death overs v ataraX Wellington. Up against a mid 50k attack in middle and death overs v Charminster. Very very early days but v decent attacks the shift for Tweddle seems to be making an impact.

A bit of space and time bending going on as the TMOs play both a friendly SOD against FHK and their first game in the CWC6 Premier against AXW!
