Stumped!

Another tied game!
Oh my god...this **** was so tense...Plaatjies, what a genius you are!

The third tied game between these two bitter rivals....phewwwww

Mooo had this game in the bag, but some really iced cold bowling at the end got GG through...not forgetting the captain Peter Sutherland's captaincy and influence.

AXI – 53 youth pulls (my team turns one tomorrow) – Headline Success Rate – 23%
  • never played a match nor were sold: 38
  • sold on the TM, all for small money: 7
  • in the current AXI squad: 8
HSR calculated by those players still in the game; disregarding three crap players who fetched a bid. HSR looks good, but no superstars. All eight in the AXI squad are very good however.

AX-W – 22 youth pulls – Headline Success Rate – 55%
  • never played a match: 9
  • on the TM right now, a likely reject: 1
  • played a handful of games: 2
  • in the current AX-W squad: 10
The bar for inclusion in AX-W is much lower than that of AXI lol. Bunch of servicable to good players. Most late 30s pot. Almost two thirds of the AX-W squad are 16 or 17.

Couple of questions to everyone before I open signups to CW Stumped Championship Season Five

1) Should it be T20 as the pattern has been or should we have more DEV tournaments, seeing as that's probably where we are the closest? (My suggesting would be that we alternate DEV and a senior format, so season six would be T20)
2) Should we have promotion and relegation, or similar to this year with a qualifying first?
3) Is once a week still a good rate of matches?

Ashgrove score 205-5 in the Dev game vs AXI. Have to back my batters to chase it down, but they do have some strong powerplay bowling.

In a few minutes the Schmaltz-AXI T20 fixture will begin. For some reason I always find myself batting first in these games. Ah well.

In a couple of hours the CWC QF day/night begins with Morpork vs the Orangutans, followed by AXI playing Jura.

@Magrat Garlick: with my T20-oriented side I've been looking forward to that tournament ofc, but I don't mind a Dev one either. If we do have a Dev CWC gamespam again would be fun, but at two games a week. T20 gamespam would also be nice tbh.

In terms of format, possibly *makes up idea on spot* have double round robin in two equally-balanced pools, and then send teams into three divisions for a single round-robin to determine the results? (we've got 16 teams now right? let's get some more people to sign up, preferably two )

Maybe promotion/relegation would be fun actually, I don't really mind.

Apologies for Rusty doing Rusty things. He's on track for the double century...

Despite the trashest pinch-hitter innings (25 off 25) we're still on track for 210+

I think the bowling attack is hurt by lack of variations. Still, it should be an utterly gun SOD attack. Rusty smashing movement, how realistic.

1) I quite like the SOD - T20 - Dev cycle. Will be interesting to see how many players, if any, play in two CWC Dev comps during their career. Plus it kinda creates a World Cup like atmosphere - each title is only up for grabs once every 3 tournaments. But if we do Dev alternating then the SOD and T20 cups become a bit more prestigious, and the constant turnover in Dev + competitiveness will keep those leagues fun, so I'm not totally against it.

2) I don't like promotion/relegation for CWC. A fresh start for each tournament is perfect. We get to play different teams each time, and everyone has an opportunity to win the championship right at the start of the comp. Don't think an ongoing league is as exciting - we already have that in Stumped, and it could be a drag for the Div 2 or weaker Div 1 teams. Small groups leading to an extended KO stage probably the ideal format.

3) Once a week is good, gives us time to join other comps/arrange our own friendlies. The Home Town Heroes comp is intense with 3 games week and so people keep forgetting to set orders. Even having two Nat games in a week has led to mess ups! One game a week easier to manage.

stares in 1-13

Horror loss for Schmaltzberg who stare down the barrel.

Anyway Morpork-TMO has started. 7k ratings advantage to me. SInce the group stage game Liam Levy has replaced Nathan Reid for TMO, while Akalsukh Bhatti has replaced Louis Kotze and goes up to open. Faiz Saad has replaced Louis Grobbelaar, a much stronger bowler but weaker batter, leaving more responsiblity on Clarke at eight.

Levy starts by monstering Saad lol.

Anthony Davidson is out for 10 from 8 balls, Tinozivaishe Ncanana will replace him.
32.4 W Fouche to Davidson 113 kph 4/10 channel push thick edge easy close CATCH for Marita.

that is the danger man. Fouche gets two wickets and does exactly the job he's asked

Good win for Morpork today. Well done on your campaign @Magrat Garlick. Hopefully you can get deeper.

Disappointing batting display again from the TMOs, still not taking any early wickets either. I need to remember its still a building squad... but these poor performances hurt, when you have expectations.

Against a 55k top/62k middle batting lineup. We lost by 7 runs. Sigh. Danial Ahsan is very much not ready for the role of 6th bowler, but if he doesn't bowl in the league he'll never get ready.

What's the lesson here? Should have given him the full 8 as much as possible while he was in Dev cricket.

Does it make that much of a difference? I only ask because I understood that 4/5 overs was enough and you just get diminishing returns thereafter. It could make a big difference to my current Dev team setup.
