Stumped!

Todii Mthombeni got to 10 wicket keeping today! Its has been great to see the young mans progress. The plan for next season is for him to take over all wk duties from the older Tigwell, who has been a great servant for the TMOs the last two seasons.

Jalal Farhat is facing his old team today, in the TMO-Schmaltzberg development clash... mixed feelings about wanting him to do well or not.

Interesting match. Different approaches with the more placid Kock at three for TMO.

Eight players still left from the first clash between the sides ( https://www.stumpedgame.com/Scorecard.php?Match=1474977 )

Schmaltzberg:
Fraser - moved from four to six, has been leapfrogged by other batsmen
Payne - was a bit of a wild legspinner then but still took 3/18, another good spell today
Wessel - doesn't like bowling at the TMOs it seems, could be a key man in the late overs today
Ndlovu - keeping him around for friendlies now, 36 POT isn't ideal but he still performs well
Farhat - batted eleven then and three now! Thanks for all that dev work...although he scored better then than now

Orangutans:
Kock - best batsman today so far
Tyagi - more of a bowler than a batsman now, struggled against Ndlovu today
Burger - improved in pace, probably the best bowler on either side now, got our in-form man Bernstein out

both teams have improved from 30k to 45k

Passmore is kinda my dark horse in development games... a little erratic tends to take wickets but goes for runs as well. Getting better.

Unfortunately I don't have a very aggressive line-up development wise or senior team. Definitely old style build an innings and try make sure a batsmen is still there at the end.

League matches for CWC4 were generated overnight
Well done and thanks for alerting us.

This sounds very miserable of me - and I am not meaning to cast ANY shadows on any of us (including myself) but clearly as you have alluded to earlier on (but I was not really focusing then) there is an opportunity for 'shenanigans' (as you put it) when one manager has 2 teams in a league (particularly if one has already lost a couple of matches and then comes up against the other).

Someday, sometime, if not now but in CWC 5, 10 or 30, eventually someone (probably someone who hasn't even joined us yet!) is going to try it - just a couple of mildly weaker players ...'oh but it was not a weaker team, I was just trying something etc etc) and then there is no MCC CWC rules to refer to:

You have mentioned putting out full strength teams - and we can clearly see from the Expert Preview when someone has not BUT .....
How will this be policed?
Who will determine a weak team ?
What will be the penalties?

And more tricky - is when someone might put out a full strength team on paper but put in silly attack levels for batting/bowling / a 'wrong' keeper/captain and or batting order

Sounds grim but it is better sometimes to define exactly that there is a law and a punishment - then everyone knows where they stand - and as a result it doesn't happen - a deterrent !

I 100% expect it not to happen of course. Just as an idea .... I would accept (for example) any judgement by you as binding and the penalty is the the game and table is calculated as though the opposition had won the game by 50% (e.g. 300 vs 200)

The shame would ofc be a lot worse though- one would be mud in our CWC world!

Moo have been pounding GG’s full strength team over the past couple of days…and this is with normal order set…our last encounter there were 4 run outs in GG’s innings (including a diamond duck).

Mooo still lost the game though.

The match engine plays some really devious tricks some

You have to think about this a bit differently... this is a big community cricket website, a few people play 'stumped' here for a bit of fun and bragging rights. If somebody comes here just to try win friendly competition on stumped via some nefarious and devious means, they are gonna get ostracized by the group pretty quickly and just not invited to CWC tournaments (and possibly even hounded off the site). There won't be an enquiry, there wont be an mcc guideline needed, the group will just decide because it will be pretty clear that someone is being a dick! Nobody here is gonna cheat and those that do won't last long.

Yes Stephen , I do indeed hope you are correct and in terms of thinking differently I think your points were mirrored by my last sentence , so I was covering a range of 'thinking' none of which have not been mentioned here before - and I concur with you entirely on the reasons to play stumped.

I don't think anyone here thinks it's fun to win by playing dirty. That's not why we're playing the game.

As stephen says, we've all been a part of CW a long time and have interacted with each other in various discussions/games/debates, we know each other pretty well. We're just having fun playing a game together, there's no prizes for winning this. Why cheat and sour relations with our friends?

I'm not sure of the hounding people off the site thing, tho CW does have a history of doing that...

I enjoy playing CWC and being part of the community. I did not intend to upset anyone and apologies for doing so.................guess I'll just have to win it now!
