Stumped!

Ahh I see!

Well the Wild Geese have lost their 7th, Ted Hui proving to be an inspired pick so far. 2/36 in 8 overs. Joshua Wong normally plays in the starting XI, but with the pitch being on the slower side + Hui being in 16 touch, I figured I'd give him a run instead. Has been the best bowler on display this innings so far - average ball quality of 7.6! And still clocking in a max speed of 90.7 mph - so we've not lost a lot of pace either.
From our perspective it has turned into a rout- with the lower order in complete disarray - we are tumbling to 200

Burger takes his 5th.... ever since I commented that Burgr was not taking as many as I would like, he has come back strongly taking a number of important wickets. After some investigation I also realised I had been very unfair on him, as he is by far my highest wicket taker this season, in just about every format, except T20 where he does not play much.

Chirag Unmesh slogs 40 off 31 balls, and the numbers 10 and 11 add 26 runs between them as well. 195/8 ends up as 243 a/o with a ball to spare. #RunsOnTheBoard for the Wild Geese, FHK will need to bat well to chase this down.

JoJo got bowled out for 120. Shah-boss was runout for just 8 in the 3rd over, but Sajith's proceeded serenely since then and we've already got 51 on the board after 10 overs.

Quick look around the grounds - Schmaltzberg end on 307/8, Astronauts 212/9, Jura CC 339/6 and AXI 233 a/o. The only chasing team to lose a wicket so far are TMO - skipped Sree caught behind on the 5th ball! Could be in for an exciting low scoring game at The Merry Arboreal CG.

The ZCC boys took their time but completed a 9-wicket win with 23 overs to spare. Should be enough for the bonus point, keeps our NRR healthy too. Onto the rematch with Schmaltzberg on Saturday - they currently have the Hunks 5 down for 94 in the 18th over.

FHK have lost Agnes Chow to a run-out, but are proceeding smoothly otherwise. 93/1 in 21 overs. Worm is a bit behind the Buy-Ins', asking rate 5.21. But I think we're in a good position, should finish this game off.

TMO, AXI Wellington and Winton CC all struggling in their chases atm.

Brilliant counter-attacking partnership that by Law and Yau. 86 runs in just 58 balls. Yau's been dismissed for 44 off 31, still another 32 runs needed. Plenty of time to get it, hope Law gets his 50 and sees us home.

Apparently the TMOs are afraid of finger spin... even though the pitch should most definitely not suit that bowling. Not unexpected but terrible batting display. Well done to the Astronauts @Marcuss.

Winton CC off the mark, no not with a win but with a losing bonus point against Ataraxia in a 46 run defeat. The scenes in Winton this evening will be remarkable!

Faisal Jawad 70 off 76 not out briefly threatened late drama but 2 wickets in 3 balls saw us go from 164-6 to 164-8 chasing 234 before being bowled out for 187. Steve Ludlow 4-25 from 9 overs for Ataraxia undoubtedly the pick of the bowlers on either side

No such cheer for JoJo after what was a solid if slow start with the bat before a collapse and efficient chase by Zor*x CC

Sorry I missed the end of my match against FHK - had to bail out when we were 199/8. I guess at that point I would have bitten your arm off for 243 but at the start I always felt 270 would be needed to have a decent chance of a win. Of course various members of the FHK team bowled (and fielded!) and batted 'just right'! From our perspective no one could turn their 40 into a 80 and some proficient all rounders gave their wickets away when 270 could have still been attainable - the captain's rather mediocre bowling stints - totalling 0-67 after some misguided decisions and even worse batting were the proverbial final nail in our demise! Well done to FHK - and we take consolation that we are close enough that future wins would not be impossible against this side.

Peter Sutherland is showing a different dimension to his batting today…compared to some of his knocks, where he goes all out attack to get the team out of trouble, today he’s playing a more subdued innings with Kasun Obeysekere.

GG CC were reduced to 49/6 when Obeysekere joined Sutherland…it is now 153/6 with 5 overs to go.

By my calculations you got the bonus point by one run! Which (I think) means my qualification for the championship depends on a bonus-point win against the Geese, rather than just a win. New Year's Day, here we come!

Well done, disappointed we didn't get more than 233 after a run-a-ball 108-run opening partnership between Rusty (54 off 54) and Dee (who started off with 53 off 59, but then did the classic go-slow and hit 33 off 75 to end up 86 off 134). Hasn't been the best of performances over the holiday season.

I'd always assumed that touch doesn't affect friendlies, good to hear it does!

294-run opening partnership for Morpork against the Wistful Woodpeckers to max that NRR.

RUSTY RUSTY RUSTY!

  • his highest score by far, beating out 89*
  • highest score in T20s for the club, beating Murdoch's bot-bash 100* and (Murdoch's) ridiculous 81*
  • second-highest score by an AX player against a human team (after JdP's 128 off 110)
  • highest team T20 score (probably, definitely highest against-human score)
  • went from 85 (52) to 125 (62) in the innings
  • there was a period of four overs where he faced five balls, but he still hogged the strike
And all this, in division 2 T20, on 9 aggression, middling touch, on a slow pitch, against 60K+ bowling!

That's a relief, I had calculated it wrongly I believe thinking that my run rate needed to be within 75% of yours rather than me needing to prevent your run rate being 25% above mine. But calculating again I think you are right.

It will be an interesting game between you and The Buy Ins and seeing how you approach game knowing you are targetting a bonus point win rather than just a win. And on the other hand if The Buy Ins play for the Bonus point defeat or play for the win and risk a bigger defeat in the meantime.

If we could've prevented a 24 run final wicket partnership maybe could've caused an even bigger shock (in such a case I think my team would've been AWOL for the final match after the partying) but cannot complain too much. 133-2 after 23.1 overs against a side that had a knack of starting well with the ball and then letting the opposition off the hook - I'd have taken 100-8 from the next 26.2 overs.
