Stumped!

The 50 partnership is up for Mooo. The batsmen are more in a steady mode, with hardly any attacking going on...or it might be attributed to the quality of Morpork's bowlers.

Someone needs to do laps after this game...

Mooo are 158/2 with 13 overs left in the innings, Zack Truman is one run away from his half-century, while Aat Bernstein is new to the crease....with wickets in hand, I'd expect them to push for 240-250

For GG, they are 201/5 after 36 overs, Mark Jardine just missed out on a century (dismissed for 94). D'souza looks prime though, 32 off 22 so far...300 is there for the taking!

Some interesting results these past few days.

The ZCC vs FHK Christmas Day 2nd XI game ended in a 5 wicket win for the visitors ZCC. Fielding essentially their Dev XI, they kept FHK to just 171/9 in 50 overs. A key part of this was running out Andy Li and Michael Spavor - two of their best bats - for a combined 4 off 10. Tam Tak-chi hit a good 57 off 87, and skipper Ted Hui blocked out 56 balls for 14* from number 10. In reply, Jamal Madani stroked 71 off 95 opening the batting, laying the platform for ZCC's win. FHK bowled well, just didn't have enough runs on the board. Madani's dismissal sparked a bit of a wobble - 150/2 to 151/5 - but skipper Younis and Chester saw the side home.

Then we had the two boxing day matches - ZCC vs The Buy-Ins and FHK vs JoJo. The Buy-Ins seemed to put out a weakened side - ratings of just 38k - but still put up a fight. Shamiso Zondi (74) and Rowan ODocherty (64) put on 135 runs for the 4th wicket, but rest of the batting didn't contribute, leading to the JCC affiliate being bowled out for just 184. TBI dismissed Shah-boss in the 8th over for 23, but Sajith D Estandau (72*) and Heshan de Melho (67*) finished off a comfortable 9-wicket chase

Jojo vs FHK was a good matchup - 40K vs 46K. FHK resting some star players but still entering the game as favourites. The only time these two sides faced off before saw Jojo win by 28 runs, so Ted Hui was determined to make amends. The bowlers delivered for us on a slow green wicket, bowling the hosts out for just 205. 40 off just 30 balls from Scott Davis at 7 was their highest score, tho 7 players did make it into double digits. The seam attack of Hui/Bikswing/Spavor returned combied figures of 28-3-99-5. In the chase, CWC Journeyman Simon Lickley bowled Tong Ying-kit in the first over to get JoJo off to a bright start. But Agnes Chow hit a breezy 46 off 43 while Tam Tak-chi grounded it out for 54 off 109. At 160/3 in 33 overs, Nathan Law stepped on the gas, and the chase was done in another 36 balls. He finished on 71* off just 52 balls. So comfortable chases for both teams on boxing day. Thanks for the games gents!

We also had Bangladesh slump to their 5th loss in 6 games in the ongoing T20I series :( A detailed report on that will be on the stumped forums sometime soon.

The two Dev League games went alright - a weakened ZCC side lost to Kryptoknights, who are hot on our heels for 1st place in Div 2.2. We're only just holding them off on NRR. Given how bad our stint at T20 Div 1 is going, we may look to play Ahsan and Ramalingam for the remaining Dev and OD fixtures only, and use the T20 to give some other kids a go. FHK were weakened for their game too, mainly due to fitness issues, but still pulled off a thumping 196 run win over alleged cheaters 'The Raptors'. Some gap is building between FHK and the rest in Dev Div 3.6, hopefully we can secure the promotion!

CWC4 games continue today. ZCC should thump Jojo, but FHK vs The Buy Ins could be really interesting.

CWC4 underway!

The Buy Ins off to a quick start on a flat home pitch against FHK. 104/3 in 21 overs. Healthy run-rate but we've taken 3 wickets so hopefully we can peg them back a bit here and apply some pressure. 56K for TBI vs 59K for FHK. Only time we've played each other before was in the first round of the CWC4, where they beat us at home by 57 runs.

JoJo won the toss and chose to bat firs too, albeit in trickier conditions at Dom Dom Memorial CG. They've done well to lose just the 1 wicket so far, but have had to really fight for their runs. Only 65/1 in 22 overs. Plenty wear of the pitch but they'll want at least 150.

The B-Is have a nice balanced bowling attack but lack any star quality when it comes to the batting. Wood is the the only one who can put bat to ball with dominance and at the moment our young middle order is having to focus on defence and then hope an assault on a decent total can be launched by the all rounders in the last 15 overs. You would have to think 250 is no more than par on an easy pitch ; against a team of FHK's quality you would hope for 270 to give you the advantage - that is sailing slowly away ball by ball in these middle overs!

Chung's had a couple of half-chances here but they've gone begging, and so after 30 overs we've still only taken the 3 wickets. Jupp and Zondi partnership up to 40* now, The B-Is now 132/3. As Charlie mentions, the run rate has dropped. Could still push for 250+ here tho. FHK would like a couple of wickets before the slog overs.

JoJo, in the meanwhile, are 87/4 after 30. Seem determined to bat out their 50 overs, come what may. A dropped catch and a few missed chances for ZCC, but overall pretty solid. Would be nice to bowl them out, let's see what the back 20 brings.

Quick look around the grounds - Schmaltzberg on track for 300+ vs The Hunks, Astronauts 5 down and struggling vs TMO, and both Jura CC and AXI scoring at a healthy pace but have perhaps lost a wicket or two too many.

Evans playing a beautiful innings here for Astronauts , ensuring a total on the board. With the strong Astronaut bowling and the TMO middle order implosions anything can happen from here.

The careful work of putting on 71 in 16 overs done by Jupp and Zondi has been unlaced by losing them both in 3 overs and a careless run out - leaving a lower middle order at the wicket 40 balls too early! This could get nasty!

After conceding 4 over-throws a few overs prior, Tin Yau's bullet arm has turned this game around! LOY bowled out Jupp as well, which means The B-I's (who are showing up as 'Geese' on my commentary tab?) are now 190/6 with 12 overs to play. Hope we keep them under 240 from here.

@Charlie B is this deliberate or have you just not update the team abbreviation since getting it (Options - Team Short Name)

Ahh I see!

Well the Wild Geese have lost their 7th, Ted Hui proving to be an inspired pick so far. 2/36 in 8 overs. Joshua Wong normally plays in the starting XI, but with the pitch being on the slower side + Hui being in 16 touch, I figured I'd give him a run instead. Has been the best bowler on display this innings so far - average ball quality of 7.6! And still clocking in a max speed of 90.7 mph - so we've not lost a lot of pace either.
