Lucky to scrape a point against you in the BBL 5 !! In principle the BBL should be a great little competition - where you play similar skilled teams but are the part of a collective group who are working together in one table as the sum of the points scored by each of the managers/teams in their own league

But sadly it feels a bit lukewarm at the moment - there is not much chat around it and none of the groups seem to have gelled and chatted. It is not a patch on what goes on here

Do you feel that? what do you think is going wrong (if you agree of course!)
Couple of things I think - random pairings meant teams weren't as invested, I think it would have worked better if people from the same time zone played each other below division 1 - also the manager going awol with points updates midway through didn't help.

Also the T20 match engine being a bit more random - I'm apparently going to win division 5 but I would not write that up to my genius tactics! Maybe if people had started team threads for it it could have worked better.

Btw Bronkhorst is listed if you want him for 1k ?

Shouldn't have won from 64-8, or from 93-9. But Juan Goliath, playing his 202nd and final match, hung in there in a fantastic farewell to his career. :)

My affiliate now has 7/19 players 16 years and 3 weeks or younger. Haven't had a bad YP yet lol.

GG CC in their dev match today:

-played against an opponent rated 38.5k; GG was 43k
-they batted first and were bowled out for 155 in 39.5 overs
-Sebastian Plaatjies with 4 for 22; Meyapppan with 2 for 21
-GG chased down 156 in 15.1 overs with 10 wickets in hand
-Bram Human made 105 in 58 balls (11x4; 5x6)
-Skipper Ernst Levy with 45 off 37 balls (5x4)
-GG are now placed 4th in the league standings with a superior nrr of +1.52
-The team at the top spot has 35 points compared to GG's 31

I think you brought up 4 points and I nodded to all of them (I've saved you from a quadruple nodding emoji!) I'll check him out

@ataraxia due to the closeness in time between our T20 friendly tomorrow and the CWC4 games, FHK are going to field their 2nd XI for the game. Hope that's okay!
Yeah that's fine, didn't take into consideration the CWC4 game. Am planning to field an experimental side for the game anyway.

198-5. That part of the experiment succeeded. :)

A strong cameo from Rusty taking advantage of the powerplay against class bowlers, 29 (17). Bobby Shaffrey stabilised the innings, 47 (40). Daniel Rowan, somewhat surprisingly, played aggressively for 37 (22); and Kurt smashed it for 45 (21). Good stuff.

First innings of the third CWC4 group game pretty much over - strong batting from both @Charlie B 's sides, Jura piling up 274 for eight against The Merry Orangutans in Group C and The Buy-Ins not deterred by losing early wickets as their No. 7 Allwright put up 75 not out in a total of 248 for nine, ensuring they are still very much alive in Group D. In the other group C match, Ashgrove will be slightly disappointed they couldn't convert their big second-wicket partnership against the homegrown atarax into more than 257 for eight. Meanwhile in Group B, Dynamo Schmaltzberg's fielding was very good, two run outs and generally accurate bowling restricting ZCC to 241 for six. The other match in that group sees Honest Hunks chase a makeable 180 for victory.

Juan and Jan, with 362 AXI games between them, have moved to AX-W. They are making their debuts right now in the CWC, Goliath returning 2-35 (10) and du Preez defending after an early collapse.

241 felt a bit below par, but I did not expect some relatively good new ball bowling to be torn apart like this!

Schmaltzberg on course for a big upset, we need wickets and need them now

Hameed has been brutal this afternoon. Watch him get out to spin and precipitate the collapse now
Doesn't look like getting out anytime soon, RRR just 4 an over now.

Brutal. Has hit good balls to the fence repeatedly. ZCC have had some stunning Friendly losses lately, this could be the biggest one.

We've fought back taking 3 wickets in 3 overs, but perhaps too little too late. 48 needed in 14 overs, two decent bats at the crease and still 5 wickets in hand.

Hameed 96 off 93. Ridiculously good innings, took the game away from us. Deserved a ton.

Am clicking in........ 15 overs to go at Jura and TMO only nee3d 80 off 15 overs. Jura in desperate need of a wicket to make something happen (as there are 6 in hand!)

The Buys ins have a tight game on their handsAtaraXla need a run a ball of the last 13 overs - with 5 wickets in hand - what is that lower order like?? we will soon see (well I hope we will!)

Good games..

A one man comedy show at the Buy Ins with Shawn (Jack) Dee hitting a century and the rest of the team just about providing enough support at the moment to nudge AtaraXla to the finish line - nip and tuck here
