Stumped!

Tough L in the 50 overs today, all my three star batsmen failed and despite a well composed 64 from Mthabela 223/7 was never enough. Especially frustrating as the bowlers did really well, taking wickets throughout - if the usual part-time cheat of Fouche jr. had worked out then they might have collapsed in a heap.

Still second though and play bottom dwellers (but still 55k rated) Cestrians next week.

Hello Number 11,

Others have more knowledge than me so if they contradict me its probably best to listen to them. But if you have no other good keeping options then playing him as a keeper will improve his skill quicker - as will training him in his keeping. Although with 0 keeping at the moment he may well concede a lot of byes/wides early on. Hiring decent coaches and using them to coach his batting/keeping will also help but be careful to look at the wages if you do buy coaches in the transfer market as the best ones will be way too expensive for you.

We are going to start a Cricket Web Championships Season 4 soon if you are interested as well. Once you get to grips with interface I would be happy to play you in a friendly - I have just started a 2nd affiliate team called JoJo so my squad won't be too much stronger than yours and others I'm sure will be happy to play weakened sides in friendlies v you as well.
Yes I have a 1 month old affiliate that should provide a decent game and we can play 50 or 40 overs depending on your wishes

A thumping it was at the hand or Morpork saw GG CC sitting on 60 points, tied with Ataraxia. GG's NRR is a little bit above them tho...

Finishing in the top 5 is huge for the club in its first-ever CW competition. I'm happy.

Moooo also experienced a loss in this final league match...but it was a close game against WCC. We fell short by 17 runs. I forgot to set the orders for this game. Rabbani, one of Moo's best bowlers didn't get a bowl. He batted at number 3 and made 47 in the chase. Weak.

Finishing 9th in a 12-team tournament, there were moments of excellence, but a disappointing campaign, nevertheless.

Looking forward to CW4.

Cheers guys I stuck him on batting psychology, although my coach seems pretty trash. Will play him in the youth and OD games as WK, might as well develop him in the seniors too rather than an older bloke who'll never be as good. I accepted the friendly but don't expect much as I'm still rocking the default squad.

The group stages of the CWC3 have come to an end! Comprehensive wins for the Astronauts and table-toppers Dynamo Morpork, narrower wins for 6th placed ataraXIa and 7th placed Winton CC, and two cracking games for FHK and ZCC.

After electing to bat first at home, FHK were bowled out for just 133. 16 year old Tam Tak Chi stood firm against an inspired Orangutans bowling performance, scoring 61 - the remaining 10 scored only 63. Most of that 63 came from Ivan Lam, who hit 37, and then took two early wickets in the chase! Shum and Wong struck early in their spells too, and after 10 overs TMO were struggling at 27/4. On what was clearly a very difficult wicket to bat on, Alonso Kock played a wonderful innings of 45, but was 6th man dismissed with just 77 on the board. 57 runs from the final 4 wickets was not impossible, but was perhaps a mountain too high to climb. The TMO lower battled hard against a relentless attack, but fell 16 runs short - so nearly one of the upsets of the season!

And over at the 5DNOL stadium, Jura CC elected to bat first on a fairly tricky deck. Nemil Palathingal held the batting together with a good 53, and keeper's Het Nikesh's 36* off just 26 lifted them to exactly 200 after 40 overs. Arguably above par.
ZCC would need something special to chase it, but instead started in dreadful fashion. A soft dismissal for Simons (15), a poor shot from skipper Ahsan (0), and then a direct hit from Brooks to see off Ghani (0), all in the space of just 13 balls! Abdul Younis hit a boundary but then a false shot directly after, and ZCC were 44/4 after 13. Halliday (60) and Madani (65) put on an excellent 105-run partnership under pressure to turn the momentum. Following Halliday's dismissal, Madani then added 33 with Chester (19). ZCC needed only 19 more with 5 wickets and 5 overs in hand. But there was one final twist - a sharp stumping from Nikesh, then a great catch by Zikhungwini. Both set batters gone with just 13 needed in 18. JCC swarmed in, the tail buckled. Ramalingam was last man in and had to get 6 runs in 3 balls. He missed the first two, and they could only run 2 off the final ball. A 3-run win away from home, and 3rd place in the points table secured for Jura CC!

Final points table! Congratulations to Dynamo Morpork for winning the league stage of CWC3! The first time a non-ZCC side has ever accomplished it, and in only the 3rd edition of CWC! You'd think the club that setup the whole league would have had a longer run at the top ;)

Not only did ZCC miss out of first place, the missed out on the Top 3 entirely! FHK's golden generation of talent came of age during the CWC3, and for a while they were top of the table. Ultimately they finished 2nd place for the 2nd CWC in a row. Jura CC were impressive in their first ever CWC outing, and the 4-run win over ZCC in the final round won them the battle for 3rd. Another pair CWC debutants in GG CC and ataraXIa round off the top 6. They actually finished dead even on points, GG CC win 1 win more, but AXI racking up the BPs. NRR was used to split them, with GG CC on 0.17 ahead. Phew.

This means our CWC Championship KO Stage fixtures are as follows:

Sat 27th Nov
Play Off 1 - Jura CC (Home) vs ataraXIa (Away)
Play Off 2 - ZCC (Home) vs GG CC (Away)

Sat 4th Dec
Semi Final 1 - Dynamo Morpork (Home) vs Winner Play Off 1 (Away)
Semi Final 2 - FHK (Home) vs Winner Play Off 2 (Away)

Sat 11th Dec
Grand Final - Winner SF 1 (Home) vs Winner SF 2 (Away)

Looking to the bottom half of the table - Winton CC with 51 points a clear cut above the rest. A badly time rebuild for the CWC1 finalists, but there is still a chance for some silverware as they proceed directly to the Semi Finals of the CWC3 Plate! Joining them in the Semis is Ashgrove Astronauts, who won 2 games in the final 3 weeks, taking them to 40 points and just 1 point ahead of Moooo!

Therefore the CWC Plate KO Stage fixtures are as follows:

Sat 27th Nov
Play Off 1 - Moooo (Home) vs The Merry Orangutans (Away)
Play Off 2 - Dynamo Schmaltzberg (Home) vs Honest Hunks (Away)

Sat 4th Dec
Semi Final 1 - Winton CC (Home) vs Winner Play Off 1 (Away)
Semi Final 2 - Ashgrove Astronauts (Home) vs Winner Play Off 2 (Away)

Sat 11th Dec
Grand Final - Winner SF 1 (Home) vs Winner SF 2 (Away)

Time for the KO Stages! Hype! Managers, arrange your fixtures. Time to crown the CWC3 Champions!

I love a good match report (especially when one of my teams is in it  )

GG CC was rampant against their opponents (XBOX 360 blah blah blah) today in Round 3 of the Stumped! Cup

Bowled them out for 142 in 41 overs with Babar Ijaz picking up 4 for 38, Christo Theron with 3 for 25, wicket apiece for Attlee and D souza.

The reply to the target was electric. Ernst Levy and Bram Human added 87 for the first wicket in 11 overs before Levy was dismissed for 47 (37); Bram Human fell 2 overs later for 43 (39)...and the pair of D souza 22*(20) and Riaan De Villiers 17* (19) took GG over the line in the middle of the 19th over.

Moooo are playing Pie N Pint in their Round 3 fixture. Both teams are evenly matched and rated at 46K...they are batting first and currently on 95/3 after 28 overs. Wickets for Rabbani, Jawad, and Veenstra.

A very expensive last over by Richard McCormack, where he conceded 22 runs, see Pie N Pint CC to 223/7

They got 20 more than I've expected them to finish on.

A tough chase ahead for sure.
